Celebrating Oral Health Day: A Family Experience

June 9th is Oral Health Day.
This year marks the 81st celebration of Oral Health Day, and in honor of this occasion, the Dangjin City Health Center organized various oral health events for citizens.
During the event, I visited the Dangjin City Health Center's Oral Health Center with my daughter, and we had a meaningful time together.
While I brush my teeth daily, I often overlook when to replace my toothbrush and what habits are necessary for maintaining oral health.
This event was designed to remind citizens of the importance of oral health and to encourage the practice of proper care habits.
Upon entering the health center and going further inside, we found the Oral Health Center.
It was convenient to park, and there were fewer people than I expected.
By bringing an old toothbrush, we could exchange it for a new one.
The most eye-catching program during this oral health week was the toothbrush exchange event.
This citizen participation event allowed us to exchange our old toothbrushes for new ones. I brought my used toothbrush from home and visited the health center with my daughter.
Many citizens came to the Dangjin City Health Center to participate in the event. After a simple procedure, we returned our old toothbrush and received a new one. It was a small act, but it prompted us to reflect on our family's oral health.
It is generally recommended to replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months. When the bristles become frayed or lose their elasticity, it becomes difficult to clean between the teeth and gums, increasing the risk of bacterial growth.
Simply replacing an old toothbrush with a new one can mark the beginning of healthy dental care, making this event quite meaningful.
One of the reasons I brought my daughter to this event was to naturally teach her the importance of proper brushing habits from a young age.
My daughter was fascinated and happy to receive a new toothbrush, and I was able to tell her, "You should change your toothbrush regularly and not use it for too long."
Habits formed in childhood have a significant impact on lifelong health. Healthy teeth are crucial for growing children, so it is essential for parents to help them develop proper brushing habits and regularly check their oral health.
What stood out most was being able to visit the health center with my daughter and discuss the importance of oral health naturally.
For healthy teeth, it is important to practice thorough brushing after meals and regularly replace toothbrushes.
Using dental floss or interdental brushes to clean between teeth and getting regular dental check-ups can also help prevent cavities and gum disease.
The Dangjin City Health Center operates oral health programs tailored to different age groups, including infants, children, and the elderly, supporting citizens in maintaining healthy teeth.
This 81st Oral Health Day event was a reminder of how important small daily practices can be for our health.
After visiting the Dangjin City Health Center with my daughter, I also took the opportunity to check our family's oral health.
A healthy smile is not created overnight; it starts with daily small habits. If you have an old toothbrush at home, why not check when to replace your family's toothbrushes starting today?
A small change can be the first step in maintaining healthy teeth.
