✨2025 Paju Children's Marathon✨

On November 8th (Saturday) last year,

a meaningful event took place at Unjeong Lake Park.

It was the '2025 Paju Children's Marathon'! 🏃‍♂️➡️

The 2025 Paju Children's Marathon was designed to

cultivate perseverance and tenacity in children, who are the future leaders,

so they can grow into healthy and outstanding individuals, and

to promote the health of both body and mind.

🍁The course was designed to allow children to complete the race without difficulty,

following the colorful autumn foliage around Unjeong Lake Park.

✔ Unlike a typical marathon, the course length was 3.65km instead of 42.195km.

✔ Safety personnel were stationed throughout the course to prepare for any potential safety accidents.

The weather was neither too cold nor too hot,

making it a perfect day for a marathon.☀️

On the way to the event, I met a 6-year-old little marathoner

holding his dad's hand.

It was so cute to see him shouting 'Fighting!' saying he could run to the end.

There was also a dad who promised to finish the race, saying that his kids had been begging him to come and that it would be a good memory.

A mother and daughter who had been practicing by running around the lake park every night

also showed confidence in completing the race. 👩‍👧

This event was prepared by the Korean Children's Culture Center

as part of the 'Creating a World Where Children are Healthy 365 Days a Year' project.

As the participant registration (1004 people) closed early,

there was high interest even before the start,

and the event was a great success with the enthusiastic support of citizens and families. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Elementary school students residing in Paju, as well as

children from multicultural families and foreign residents in Korea, participated in

a festival of social integration.

Many dignitaries attended and

offered words of encouragement to the participating children.

"Children, don't give up, and

let's run together to the end."

With the starting signal, our future,

the angels (1004, the number of participants) began to run.

Can't you feel the hope of Paju and Korea

in the loud voices shouting 'Fighting!'? 🇰🇷

It was easy to see children

running hand-in-hand with their parents.

There were also teams participating with friends, and a baby who was still learning to walk

followed behind in a stroller pushed by their mother.

There may be times when it is difficult and tiring and you want to give up,

but let's try to find strength for 'just one more' step.

Because there are family, friends, and neighbors

cheering you on and running with you.

The resident ducks of Unjeong Lake 🦆 seem to be running a marathon too.

Lined up, they are swimming along, heave-ho.

This competition did not measure records or award medals based on rankings.

The goal is for all participants to run to the end.

Achieving the goal of completing the race is a way to confirm one's will and potential.

All children who completed the race were praised with a certificate of completion, souvenirs, and snacks.

The Children's Marathon was held successfully in pleasant weather, but

in order to develop it into a sustainable form of community sports in the future,

family relay races,

programs for children with disabilities, etc.

Expand participation by adding customized configurations

Running clubs for participating children,

online record management, linking to local competitions, etc.

Provide follow-up programs

and sports organizations

Secure sponsorship, expand on-site support,

Plan follow-up events

I thought it would be great if these things could be added and carried out together. ✨

It was a day when I saw the hope of our future, which is redder and more beautiful than the autumn leaves.

The 2025 Paju Children's Marathon is not just a running event,

but it is significant in that it created a venue where children can challenge themselves, feel a sense of accomplishment, and

grow up healthy under the support and cooperation of the local community.

Each drop of sweat on the children's faces

became the confidence that 'I can do it',

and that confidence will have a positive impact on school life and friendships.✨

I hope that this competition will become an annual event in Paju City,

and that more children and families will participate and

develop into a festival that everyone can enjoy. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
