Hello, this is the Cultural City of Chilgok! ^^

We are sharing a review of the 'Stones' Gaze' exhibition, which was organized by the Seokjeok-eup Cultural City Project Group and began at the end of October. ^^

A day when the time and stories of Seokjeok blossomed into art!

The 'We are Everyday Heroes – Stones' Gaze' exhibition, held at the Seokjeok-eup Office on October 26th (Sunday) at 10 AM, successfully concluded with great interest and participation from many residents.

(※ The exhibition period is until November 25th (Tuesday)!)

Organized by the Seokjeok-eup Cultural City Project Group, this meaningful event re-examined the place name, history, and stories of the people of Seokjeok under the theme of 'Stones' Gaze'.

This exhibition focused on creating picture books and videos that captured the history and life of Seokjeok, along with exhibition planning.

Like the name 'Stones' Gaze', it captured the stories of the spaces and people of Seokjeok, who have silently stood their ground like stones, with a warm perspective.

In this activity, we selected four major spaces in Seokjeok:

1) Protected Tree

2) Seokjeok Elementary School

3) Janggok Village

4) Seokjeok-eup Office

By presenting a storytelling exhibition of picture books based on these four themes, many visitors stopped to empathize with the everyday stories of Seokjeok.

In the lobby of the Seokjeok-eup Office, an experiential exhibition space was set up where residents could directly participate along with the picture books.

Through participatory programs such as 'Taegeukgi Design Stamp' and 'Everyday Heroes I Met (Filling in Companion Stone Photos)', residents filled the exhibition space together, completing a truly meaningful community art project.

Souvenirs such as companion stones and Taegeukgi keyrings were provided to the participants, creating a warm atmosphere where both adults and children could enjoy participating.

'Stones' Gaze' was an exhibition where local residents themselves looked back on their lives and village, conveying the message that 'We are all everyday heroes'.

“It’s new and I’m proud that ordinary daily life is captured as a story like this.”

– Participant Review –

Through this exhibition, the history of Seokjeok-eup and the lives of its people were recorded as art, and the region's identity and community bonds were further deepened within it.

This exhibition will not end as a one-day event, but will continue as a permanent exhibition in the lobby of the Seokjeok-eup Office for one month, allowing more residents to view it.

※Exhibition Period: October 26th (Sunday) ~ November 25th (Tuesday)

The Seokjeok-eup Cultural City Project Group will continue to connect the stories of our village to art through cultural activities where residents are the main characters.

We are releasing a video of the picture book, which was created by the project group who directly composed the story and drew the pictures!

(The actual picture book is available at the exhibition hall ^^)

The exhibition continues at the Seokjeok-eup Administrative Welfare Center!

Please come and see the exhibition, and we are also distributing the picture books for free, so please show a lot of interest~

Thank you.^^
