Urban Regeneration Tour in Yeongcheon

It seems that urban regeneration projects are actively taking place in the old city centers of various cities.
Some projects have just begun, while others have already been completed, and some are currently in progress.
I visited the site of the urban regeneration project in Yeongcheon's old city center.
First, I checked out the Yeongcheon Urban Regeneration Support Center's website.
The website is beautifully designed and various programs are consistently being offered.
Looking at the urban regeneration tour guide page, there are pathways that allow you to truly experience Yeongcheon's old city.
I wondered if I could get guidance from the support center, but it was closed on the day of my visit as it was a holiday.
The center is located right next to Yeongcheon Station and serves as a welcome center for the starting point of each pathway.
I plan to walk all the paths introduced on the guide, including Wansan Healing Road, Wansan Lovely Road, and Wansan Byeolmuri Road.
Since many locations overlap, it seems fine to mix them naturally without strictly separating the courses.
Following the course, I found the 'Healing Me Harmony Platform.'
At first, it was difficult to find the location as the sign indicating the facility was not very visible.
Fortunately, I referred to the building's appearance on the guide map and, after checking the sign, I realized I had arrived!
The Healing Me Harmony Platform is a regional multi-cultural facility.
It seems that multiple organizations are collaborating here. On the first floor, they are screening videos that are quite informative.
Sitting quietly and watching the videos made me feel that this is a space where I can learn more about Yeongcheon.
There is a sign of a medicinal herb pot by the roadside, hinting that this is the herbal medicine street.
There are also shops selling herbal medicine here, confirming that I am indeed on the herbal medicine street.
Next, I moved on to Maljukgeori. As the name suggests, it seems to be related to horses, so I looked around curiously.
As I reached the end of Maljukgeori, a sculpture confirmed that I was indeed in Maljukgeori.
If the guide path had been arranged in reverse, it might have enhanced the feeling of entering Maljukgeori.
While walking along Maljukgeori, I found the 'Healing Me Incubating Hub,' which now seems to be renamed as 'Yeongcheon Youth Startup Support Center.'
I hope many excellent startups will emerge in this supportive environment.
In front of the startup support center, a shop's glass door caught my attention, and I took a photo. It felt quite different from the startup support center, which made it even more impressive.
Across from the Maljukgeori sculpture is Yeongcheon Public Market, the endpoint of Wansan Healing Road.
I plan to extend my walk from here to Wansan Lovely Road.
Wansan Lovely Road is an abbreviation for 'A precious path for the residents of Wansan-dong.'
I will return to Yeongcheon Public Market for lunch, as there is a very famous gomtang (beef bone soup) restaurant here, and I am already looking forward to it.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the Silver Talent Center. After walking for a while, I think I was too tired to carefully check my surroundings.
Instead, I discovered a community communication area and walked along the alley flower path, feeling good again.
I want to capture the beauty of the flower path in photos, but I will hold back.
The alley flower path seems to connect with the historic cultural street, as the alleys are interconnected like a maze.
Though the alleys may feel similar, the murals on the walls present something new each time I see them.
As I walked, I arrived at the endpoint of Wansan Lovely Road and Wansan Byeolmuri Road, the Byeolmuri Art Center and the Imagination Warehouse.
Unfortunately, the doors were closed, so I could only look around the exterior. I was very curious about what the inside looked like, which left me feeling disappointed.
Suddenly, I became hungry and headed to enjoy the gomtang I had been saving.
However, the distance from here to Yeongcheon Public Market turned out to be longer than I expected.
Does it look delicious? The side dishes were simple, but the gomtang had a rich and hearty flavor.
Feeling full and satisfied that I had visited all the planned places, I noticed many landscapes that evoke nostalgia on my way back to where I started.
This concludes my first part of the Yeongcheon old city urban regeneration tour.
