Summer Water Playgrounds in Ulsan

Hello, this is the official blog reporting team of Ulsan Metropolitan City.
This summer, the heatwave and tropical nights are expected to be more severe than usual, prompting the districts of Ulsan to open urban water play areas earlier than in previous years.
Nam-gu has also started operating four water play areas, including at Riverside Park and Wawa Park, since June 20.
The comprehensive water play areas are set up at Riverside Park and Wawa Park, while splash pads are available at Ant Park and Wangsaeng Park.
These facilities will be open until August 20, from 10 AM to 5 PM, and are free to use. After 45 minutes of operation, there will be a 15-minute break.
From July 21 to August 17, the facilities will operate daily except on Mondays.
Please note that there are changing rooms and a water play area management office available for your convenience.
Water guns, large tubes, and boats are prohibited within the water play areas, and individuals with contagious conditions such as eye infections or skin diseases will not be allowed entry.
Food and drinks are not allowed inside the water play facilities, and consumption must take place outside the designated areas. Please follow the instructions of the safety personnel while using the facilities.
Wawa Park, covering an area of 10,692 square meters, has several resting areas. Although it may appear quiet now, it becomes very popular during the peak of summer heat, making it hard to find a spot.
Decks are installed under large trees, where parents can relax with mats or portable chairs while keeping an eye on their children playing nearby.
On the day I visited, the temperature was not too high, so the cooling fog system was not in operation, but it still provided a refreshing feeling.
The system sprays purified tap water through special nozzles, creating artificial mist with droplets about one ten-millionth the size of a raindrop. This mist evaporates in the air, reducing the surrounding temperature by approximately 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, the first ground fountain in the Nam-gu area (70㎡) is also in operation, providing even more fun activities.
There are public restrooms and shower facilities available, and shoe racks are placed throughout the area. Please remember to take off your shoes before entering the water play area to prevent slips and maintain cleanliness.
This water play area, themed around a jungle, features various models such as monkeys, parrots, and palm leaves, stimulating children's curiosity.
With one slide for toddlers, three slides for children, two water buckets, and one palm bucket, there are plenty of fun play equipment to enjoy.
Opened on April 20, 2002, it began operating as a water play area on June 28, 2013.
The water depth is maintained at 29 cm to ensure safety for children, with daily water changes, weekly tank cleaning, and bi-weekly water quality inspections for thorough management.
This essential urban water play area also helps mitigate the urban heat island effect, so make sure to visit and enjoy.
Given the high number of child visitors during summer, safety measures have been strengthened. Thirteen safety personnel will be on duty during the operational period, with six at Wawa Park, five at Riverside Park, and one each at Ant Park and Wangsaeng Park.
Regular safety training, including CPR and AED usage, will be provided for the safety personnel. Continuous monitoring of the facilities will be conducted to minimize inconveniences for visitors and maintain a pleasant environment.
Last year, over 12,000 residents visited the park's water play area to cool off. We will continue to prioritize safety management this year, so we hope you enjoy your visit this summer!
