Discovering Onyang Cultural Welfare Center This Summer
It's officially July, the height of summer, and the outdoor temperatures are reaching 31 degrees Celsius, making it quite hot!
August promises to be even hotter, making outdoor activities challenging during the day.
That’s why I discovered the Onyang Cultural Welfare Center, a multi-cultural space located in Onyang-eup, Uljin-gun, Ulsan.
This is a great place to visit with your kids during the upcoming summer vacation.
The center hosts a variety of cultural events, including Saturday Cinema, family musicals, performances on Culture Day, and lawn concerts.
The Onyang Cultural Welfare Center is conveniently located near Namchang Station, making it easily accessible on foot.
Feel free to visit using public transportation!
There will be a lawn concert on July 25th. Once the sun sets, the temperature drops, making it a better time for outdoor activities. Enjoying a concert in the evening sounds delightful!
Upcoming performances include:
- A musical retelling of classic fairy tales on Wednesdays at 7 PM, featuring “The Dog of Flanders” on July 29, “Heungbu and Nolbu” on September 30, and “The Little Match Girl” on November 25.
- A children's musical, “Cats,” on July 31 at 7:30 PM and August 1 at 11 AM. Tickets are priced at 10,000 KRW, recommended for ages 2 and up, but all ages are welcome.
The center also offers emergency after-school care and evening child care services, including on Saturdays. For inquiries, please contact the Didimdol Child Center.
Each floor has spacious rest areas with free Wi-Fi. The first-floor lounge even has a selection of books available for use before or after performances or classes.
Cultural courses are currently in their third semester, running from July 1 to September 22 for 12 weeks. There are classes available for both children and adults.
A space showcasing works from the craft courses is also available. Join and create beautiful pieces through your crafting journey!
Lost and found items are more numerous than expected, with some items labeled by their discovery dates.
The first floor features a lounge for infants, providing a comfortable space for parents before or after classes.
The performance hall is located on the third floor, complete with a photo zone in front for capturing memories.
The music room is equipped with various instruments, allowing you to perform while enjoying the scenery filled with recordings.
The second floor houses the Uljin Lifelong Learning Center, which includes craft rooms, yoga studios, and a kids' room.
The yoga studio is furnished with mats and equipment, and the front wall is mirrored for checking your poses.
The kids' room is well-organized to provide a clean learning environment, with bright yellow and green walls that are quite inviting.
Parking is available from 9 AM to 9 PM on weekdays, 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays, and free on Sundays. The underground parking area also serves as a civil defense shelter.
In conclusion, the Onyang Cultural Welfare Center is perfect for enjoying performances, cultural classes, and exercise programs! Please note that the center will be closed on July 17 for Constitution Day.
