Ulsan Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival: A Preview

As June approaches, the news of summer flowers is starting to emerge in various parts of Ulsan.
Among these, one of the most anticipated events is the Ulsan Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival.
Every year around this time, the Jangsaengpo Cultural Village transforms into a vibrant spectacle of colorful hydrangeas, making it one of the iconic summer scenes in Ulsan.
This year, the festival is set to take place from June 19 to June 28, 2026, in the Jangsaengpo Cultural Village area.
Before the festival starts, I was curious about the current blooming status, so I took a stroll around Jangsaengpo Cultural Village.
While it wasn't the peak blooming season yet, I could see hydrangeas developing their buds in various spots, and the presence of lavender added to the feeling that summer is on its way.
Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival Information
✅ Festival Dates: June 19 - June 28, 2026
✅ Location: Jangsaengpo Cultural Village
The Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival has established itself as a prominent summer flower festival in Ulsan, featuring a variety of hydrangeas, photo zones, and cultural events that attract many visitors.
Particularly, the unique hilly landscape of Jangsaengpo combined with ocean views creates a different atmosphere compared to hydrangea spots in other regions.
During my visit, I focused on the main areas of the festival to check the current blooming status.
✅ Lavender Scenery at Whale Playground
The first place I visited was the Whale Playground in Jangsaengpo Whale Cultural Village.
While I went to check on the hydrangeas, the lavender caught my attention first. The lavender, which started blooming in mid-May, still maintained its beautiful colors.
The lavender clusters around the Whale Playground were surprisingly extensive, making it pleasant to stroll through.
Especially impressive was the walking path winding through the lavender flowers. Each time the wind blew, a subtle fragrance wafted through, naturally slowing my pace.
This area is also connected to the Wales Cart route, offering a new scenic experience.
The sight of the Wales Cart moving along the tracks alongside the lavender created an additional attraction in Jangsaengpo Cultural Village.
Behind the lavender, the sea of Jangsaengpo unfolded, and the view of the purple flower field against the blue ocean was perfect for capturing in photos.
Even before the hydrangeas are in full bloom, the opportunity to enjoy the lavender made visiting Jangsaengpo before the festival a delightful experience.
✅ Current Status of Jangsaengpo Osaek Hydrangea Garden
The next stop was the Jangsaengpo Osaek Hydrangea Garden.
As one of the key areas of the festival, I was curious about its current state.
Most of the hydrangeas were still in the bud stage, with only a few areas starting to show color, indicating that blooming was not yet widespread.
However, preparations for the festival were underway, with maintenance of the walking paths and some facilities visible.
Interestingly, while there is an admission fee during the festival, entry is currently free, allowing for a relatively quiet visit to imagine the full bloom to come.
The hydrangeas were growing healthily, preparing to bloom in time for the festival.
✅ Flower Path from Totem Pole to Hydrangea Garden
One surprisingly impressive spot during my visit was the path leading from the Totem Pole in Jangsaengpo Whale Cultural Village to the Hydrangea Garden.
Here, I encountered more blooming hydrangeas than inside the garden itself, showcasing a variety of colors from light sky blue to pink, purple, and deep blue.
While it was still early in the blooming phase overall, the already colorful hydrangeas captured my attention throughout my walk.
The hydrangea scenery along the hilly paths of Jangsaengpo Cultural Village added to the summer ambiance.
As I walked along the path, I naturally began to envision the festival atmosphere.
During this visit, I felt the preparations for the festival were palpable. The Osaek Hydrangea Garden was still in the pre-bloom stage, but I could find blooming hydrangeas near the Totem Pole and along the walking paths, alongside the lavender.
After the festival begins on June 19, I expect many more hydrangeas will bloom, painting the entire Jangsaengpo Cultural Village in vibrant colors.
If you are looking forward to the hydrangea festival, consider checking the real-time blooming status of Jangsaengpo Cultural Village to plan your visit.
