Support for Pregnant Women: Eco-Friendly Agricultural Products in Gyeonggi Province

[Reporter Lee Jae-hyung]
Each eligible participant will receive support worth 240,000 KRW annually,
with applications starting on June 17 on a first-come, first-served basis.
Last year, I welcomed my grandson.
Welcoming new life into a family is an unparalleled joy and blessing.
However, mothers experiencing pregnancy and childbirth often carry the worry and responsibility:
"The food I eat will directly affect my child,
so I must ensure that I consume only safe and healthy options."
In Gyeonggi Province, the Eco-Friendly Local Food initiative at Hanaro Mart in Seongnam City provides support.
When I decide to visit an organic store, I often hesitate
at the high prices of organic products,
which is a common experience for pregnant women.
To support these mothers, Gyeonggi Province has announced a delightful initiative this year.
This dual-purpose policy aims to ensure the health of future generations while supporting eco-friendly farmers,
titled the 'Support Program for Pregnant Women's Eco-Friendly Agricultural Products.'
The health of pregnant women is the future of Gyeonggi Province.
During my daughter's pregnancy, my wife carefully selected nutritious foods for her. Parents with pregnant children likely share similar experiences.
The nutritional state during pregnancy and immediately after childbirth is crucial for both the mother's recovery and the child's lifelong health.
For vulnerable pregnant women and fetuses, even small harmful substances can have significant effects,
making clean, uncontaminated food essential.
However, in the face of skyrocketing food prices,
it is quite a burden to maintain a diet consisting solely of fresh, safe organic and pesticide-free produce.
Gyeonggi Province has been consistently promoting this program annually to alleviate the childcare burden on residents
and create an environment where they can focus on childbirth with peace of mind.
What is the Support Program for Pregnant Women's Eco-Friendly Agricultural Products?
This initiative involves a substantial budget of 11.5 billion KRW from Gyeonggi Province
to provide verified fresh food to pregnant women and new mothers in the province.
Only certified organic and pesticide-free products, as well as organic processed foods and animal welfare certified items,
will be delivered fresh in customized packages right to their doorsteps.
Gyeonggi Province ensures that mothers, who are sensitive about food safety, can eat with confidence.
“Can I apply too?” Eligibility criteria:
✔️ Eligibility: Pregnant women or mothers who gave birth after January 1, 2025, currently residing in Gyeonggi Province.
✔️ Number of beneficiaries: A total of 48,000 across all 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province.

Eco-friendly agricultural products with the producer's name labeled.
The cost to me is only 20% with generous support.
Selected pregnant women will receive eco-friendly agricultural products worth 240,000 KRW annually.
The most attractive aspect is the '20% personal contribution.'
The amount you need to pay is only 48,000 KRW,
while the remaining 80% (192,000 KRW) is fully supported by Gyeonggi Province and local governments.
This means you can enjoy top-quality clean ingredients at an 80% discounted price, which is truly a blessing!
The application period is from June 17 (Wednesday) to June 30 (Tuesday).
Due to limited budget and support for 48,000 individuals,
early closure is possible, so mothers expecting or recovering from childbirth are encouraged to apply quickly.
Application can be made online or in person.
To accommodate pregnant women who may have difficulty moving, both online and offline applications are available.
Online application (recommended): Access the dedicated shopping site for pregnant women, 'Eco Emall' (www.ecoemall.com), and apply after verifying your identity.
For those who find internet use challenging or need assistance with document issuance, visit your local administrative welfare center with your ID and supporting documents (pregnancy confirmation or birth certificate), and they will assist you in the application process.
This program felt like a package sent by my mother!
My daughter received significant help through this initiative.
She experienced severe morning sickness during her first pregnancy and could only eat fresh fruits and vegetables,
which made the cost quite burdensome.
She said, “With the Eco Emall points supported by Gyeonggi Province,
I ordered pesticide-free tomatoes, organic greens, and animal welfare eggs,
and they were delivered fresh to my doorstep, which was truly touching.”
She felt proud to be a resident of Gyeonggi Province,
as if her mother sent her homegrown produce directly.
This program not only protects children's health but also supports farmers!
The true value of this initiative goes beyond just providing food aid.
It offers a stable market for eco-friendly farmers who are facing challenges due to climate change and economic downturns.
Pregnant women's health is the future of Gyeonggi Province.
Pregnant women receive safe food, and eco-friendly farmers secure stable markets for their quality products,
making this a perfect example of 'co-prosperity administration.'
In this era of low birth rates, families that give birth and raise children are the most valuable assets of our society.
Officials from the Gyeonggi Provincial Department of Agricultural and Marine Life Sciences stated,
“The health of pregnant women and children is an investment in our society's future,”
promising to promote the health of future generations and the expansion of eco-friendly agriculture.
If selected as a beneficiary, you will receive fresh agricultural products starting from July 20 to December 15.
Don't miss this application opportunity, and consider starting your journey with your child happily with the healthy meals prepared by Gyeonggi Province!
