Spring Visit to Gwanghanruwon in Namwon

As spring arrives, many of you might have worried whether the cherry blossoms would fall due to the continuous spring rain over the weekend. With that sentiment, I visited Gwanghanruwon, a representative attraction in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, in early April. Although it rained on the day of my visit, the rain added a charming and tranquil atmosphere to the spring scenery.
My visit began at the west gate of Gwanghanruwon. The parking fee is only 2,000 won for the entire day, making it easy to explore both Gwanghanruwon and nearby attractions without parking concerns. Additionally, part of the entrance fee can be refunded in local gift certificates, making the overall cost feel much lower.
Despite the weather being rainy, many people were enjoying a leisurely spring walk. I took my time strolling, fully immersing myself in the atmosphere of spring at Gwanghanruwon.
The structure was not much different from winter, but the revival of greenery and the brightening colors made it feel like a completely different space. The freshness left by the rain made the air clear, and I felt great throughout my walk.
Upon entering Gwanghanruwon, the first thing that caught my eye was the cornelian cherry tree. Its bright yellow flowers welcomed visitors as a herald of spring.
While Namwon is famous for its cherry blossom paths along the Yocheon Stream, Gwanghanruwon also offers impressive cherry blossoms. The large cherry tree in front of the Chunhyang Shrine is a must-see point.
The cherry blossoms harmonizing with the traditional architecture of Chunhyang Shrine created a picturesque scene. I paused for a moment to admire the view, feeling as if time was flowing slowly.
When I visited, the cherry blossoms were just past their peak, and every time the wind blew, white petals scattered, creating a beautiful cherry blossom rain.
Next, I headed to Wolmae House, where I encountered a completely different atmosphere with the vibrant red camellia flowers. Against the backdrop of greenery in Gwanghanruwon, the vivid red of the camellias made a strong impression.
From the yellow of the cornelian cherry flowers to magnolias, cherry blossoms, and camellias, it felt like spring's colors were gathered in one place. While the overall tone of Gwanghanruwon was green, the flowers blooming in various spots added vitality to the scenery, making my spring walk there particularly memorable.
Gwanghanruwon is not only a place of beautiful scenery but also hosts various events. Until the end of April, there will be flea markets, diverse experience programs, and picnic events every weekend. In May, the Chunhyangjeon event, representing Namwon, is also scheduled, and preparations and renovations are currently underway.
As the weather warms up, Gwanghanruwon in Namwon is expected to showcase even richer greenery and abundant flowers, filled with events. If you are planning a spring outing, enjoy a leisurely spring walk at Gwanghanruwon, a must-visit place in Jeollabuk-do.
