The nameless heroes who rose with the sole intention of protecting their families, communities, and country are remembered here at Gibang Mountain Fortress.
The Gibang Mountain Fortress Righteous Army Historical Park is located in Buk-gu, Ulsan, where beautiful scenery coexists with a heartwarming history.

Upon entering the Gibang Mountain Fortress Righteous Army Historical Park, a grand monument made of natural stones immediately captures our attention.
It stands proudly on a stone embankment, symbolizing 'Giryung,' which means 'the ridge where the flag stands.'
This ridge, where Gibang Mountain Fortress is located, has historically been a crucial transportation hub and a significant military site.
During the Imjin War in 1592, many scholars and citizens from Ulsan gathered here at Gibang Mountain Fortress, driven by a single thought of saving the nation, raising the flag of the righteous army with determination.

Righteous armies refer to civilian soldiers who rose voluntarily to fight without waiting for government orders or punishment when the nation faced foreign invasions.
From the Three Kingdoms period through the Goryeo era's struggles against the Mongols, the Imjin War, and the resistance movements during the late Joseon period, the righteous army has been our unique DNA for overcoming crises.
The exhibition hall details the noble footprints of the people who wielded swords and spears instead of sickles and hoes.
The main focus of the exhibition hall is the righteous army during the Imjin War.
In 1592, as the Japanese forces invaded and weakened Busanjin and Dongnae Fortress, Ulsan faced a dire historical crisis.
Even the government forces collapsed, but the scholars, farmers, and commoners of Ulsan transcended social classes to gather at Gibang Mountain Fortress, determined to protect their homeland.
This struggle of the Ulsan righteous army continued for an astonishing seven years.
