Exploring Ulsan's Family-Friendly Happiness Center

Hello! This is the Ulsan City Hall Blog Reporter Team.
It can often be challenging to decide where to take your child. Especially on rainy days or when the weather is too hot or cold, having a space to play indoors is incredibly valuable.
This time, I visited the Ulsan Paldung Family Happiness Center located in Nam-gu, Ulsan. It features a variety of facilities, from a swimming pool to an indoor playground for children, making it a popular spot for families.
The Paldung Administrative Welfare Center has parking available for visitors, which is convenient. I visited for about two hours and was able to exit for free. However, parking policies may change, so it's best to call ahead to confirm the availability and regulations before your visit.
Swimming lessons are also offered at the center, starting as early as 6 AM. Classes range from beginner to advanced levels, but not all classes are available every month, so it's advisable to check the schedule beforehand. If you successfully register for the first month, you will get priority registration for the next month, which is great for those wanting to continue learning.
Infants can also use the swimming pool, but it's important to note that this space is strictly for learning to swim, and safety equipment like tubes and life jackets are not permitted.
I also had the chance to experience the Jangsengi Indoor Playground, which is open from Tuesday to Sunday. The admission fee is 2,000 KRW for children and 1,000 KRW for guardians. On the day I visited, I received a small gift for Environment Day, which was a nice surprise.
There are lockers and a nursing room available for convenience. However, during the morning hours, general admission may be limited due to reservations from daycare centers, as they may conduct activities that involve taking photos of children, which raises privacy concerns.
Remember, wearing socks is mandatory for both guardians and children. My child has a habit of taking off socks, but the staff was understanding and allowed us to play as long as we stayed out of certain areas.
The play area includes role-playing spaces, allowing kids to engage in imaginative play, which helps them indirectly experience social situations.
The hygiene management impressed me the most. I witnessed staff cleaning and disinfecting toys after use, which is reassuring for parents concerned about cleanliness.
I visited around noon, and it was relatively quiet, making it easy to take photos. The staff indicated that before 3 PM is usually less crowded, while after 3 PM and on weekends tends to be busier.
The facility offers a variety of play equipment, including climbing nets, spinning rides, wall blocks, and large building blocks, which can be challenging to do at home.
Overall, the Ulsan Paldung Family Happiness Center is a family-friendly space where you can enjoy both a swimming pool and an indoor playground. The Jangsengi Indoor Playground offers affordable admission, thorough hygiene management, safe play facilities, and various role-playing areas. If you're looking for an indoor playground to visit with your child in Ulsan, I highly recommend checking it out!
