While considering where to go with my child over the weekend, we decided to visit the Ulsan Taehwa River Ecological Center, which offers plenty of sights and learning opportunities for kids.

The parking lot is spacious and well-organized. There is a parking area right in front of the center, and a large riverside parking lot just a 3-minute walk away, so parking is not a concern.

The Ulsan Taehwa River Ecological Center is more of an ecological education center than just an aquarium for viewing fish. Visitors can learn about the natural environment and ecosystem of the Taehwa River.
As we followed the exhibits, we encountered various aquatic plants, insects, and fish living in the Taehwa River. Watching the fish swim in the tanks captured the children's interest naturally.
Observing and discussing what we saw made the experience much more enjoyable compared to just passing through. We explored the entire ecosystem of the Taehwa River, from its source to its upper and lower streams, making it interesting for both children and adults.
We were able to experience various creatures living in the Taehwa River, including the resident otters. It was a great opportunity for kids to observe animals that are usually hard to spot in the river.
It was also a refreshing experience to see the familiar Taehwa River in a new light, realizing how many different species inhabit it. I appreciated learning how fish, plants, and insects coexist within this ecosystem.
The center offers not only permanent exhibitions but also various seasonal special exhibitions and ecological experience programs. This means that each visit can present new exhibitions and programs, making it worthwhile to return.
Before visiting with your child, I recommend checking if there are any ongoing experience programs.
If you visit with children, be sure to stop by the Children's Exploration Room on the first floor. It features various interactive exhibits tailored to children's perspectives, providing a fun space for kids to play and recharge after viewing the exhibitions.
There are various activities, including fishing games, puzzles, and camping play. It seems particularly enjoyable for children from toddlers to early elementary school age.
Children tend to prefer hands-on experiences over just watching, which makes this a great spot for them.
Next to the parking lot, there is also a fountain area to enjoy. The surroundings of the Taehwa River offer beautiful natural scenery and walking paths, making it a recommended spot for family outings.
