The filming location of the drama 'When the Camellia Blooms', I visited the 'Guryongpo Modern History Museum' located in the heart of the Japanese House Street, which vividly holds the painful history and lifestyle of Guryongpo from 100 years ago.

The Guryongpo Modern History Museum is a two-story Japanese wooden building that was originally home to 'Hashimoto Genkichi', a Japanese immigrant from Kagawa Prefecture in the 1920s. It has been restored and is now operated as a history museum by the city of Pohang.
This place allows you to feel the heartbreaking history of Guryongpo and the lives of our ancestors, going beyond merely viewing an old modern building.
Originally a beautiful two-story structure, access to the second floor is currently restricted for safety reasons.
The History of the Golden Fishing Grounds, 'Guryongpo Eldorado'
As you enter the exhibition hall, a striking red map captures your attention. It tells the story of 'Guryongpo Eldorado'.
In the late 1880s to early 1900s, poor fishermen from the Oda fishing village in Kagawa Prefecture risked their lives to venture beyond the narrow fishing grounds of the Seto Inland Sea in search of broader fishing areas in Joseon.
On one wall, there are framed maps of Pohang from 1929 and Guryongpo from 1930, detailing the street layout, shops, and houses of Guryongpo from 100 years ago.
Comparing the current Japanese House Street to its bustling past through these maps adds an enjoyable layer to your visit.
