Exploring the Scenic Namji Bridge in Hamann

Although the midday heat continues, the evenings are becoming quite pleasant for walks these days.
If you're looking for a great evening spot to avoid the heat, I recommend Namji Bridge, which crosses the Nakdong River.
The address of Namji Bridge is in Namji-eup, Changnyeong-gun, but it connects Chilseo in Hamann and Namji in Changnyeong across the Nakdong River.
It serves as a route connecting major tourist attractions in Chilseo, such as Neunggasa Temple and Baram Sori-gil, making it a great spot for evening sightseeing.
If you visit during sunset, you'll be able to enjoy both the sunset and the night view, making it a perfect romantic getaway in Hamann.
Unfortunately, the day I visited was cloudy.
Thinking it would be hard to see a beautiful sunset, I decided to at least enjoy the night view.
I stopped by a nearby café, 'Sookpil,' for delicious coffee and desserts before slowly heading towards the bridge.
At the entrance of the bridge, there are benches and a deck, making it a nice spot to take a break.
Local residents were also sitting there, enjoying the view of the Nakdong River and the bridge, which is a perfect spot for night scenery.
Next to the bridge, there is a ginkgo tree that is over 500 years old.
In summer, the grass is lush, but in autumn, when the ginkgo leaves turn yellow, the view of the giant tree will be quite stunning.
Now, let's walk on the Namji Bridge!
This area features a bridge for vehicles alongside a pedestrian bridge.
Namji Bridge is a modern truss bridge that spans the Nakdong River, constructed starting in 1931 and opened in 1933.
It is 391.4 meters long and 6 meters wide, combining a T-shaped reinforced concrete bridge with a truss structure, and it was used for about 60 years until 1994.
Now recognized for its historical and architectural value, it is designated as a national registered heritage site.
Currently, it is used as a walkway, frequented by both Hamann and Changnyeong residents for leisurely strolls.
Crossing just one bridge from Hamann's Chilseo to Changnyeong's Namji makes it easy to walk or exercise.
The Nakdong River cycling path also runs through here, so you'll often see cyclists crossing the bridge.
As I walked along the bridge, I noticed Neunggasa Temple nestled quietly on the cliffs above the Nakdong River.
The view of the river, cliffs, and temple together is always unique and beautiful.
If you visit Namji Bridge, I highly recommend exploring Neunggasa as well!
Despite the cloudy sky, the sunset colors began to emerge slowly.
On the opposite side, the canola flower fields were blooming, and the long rows of metasequoia trees along the river added to the scenery.
Returning to the bench, I waited for the sun to set a bit more, and unexpectedly, the sunset colors intensified.
The sky began to blush with soft pink hues, wrapping around the bridge and gradually creating an evening ambiance.
Everyone watching that moment paused and looked up at the sky.
Soon, the sky deepened into a rich orange, with warm light reflecting on the surface of the Nakdong River.
The entire landscape turned golden, and it felt as if every step on the bridge was accompanied by this light.
Finally, the bright red sunset painted the horizon, completing the day's final scene.
Those walking on the bridge at that time must have felt the same romantic sunset.
As the sun fully set, the vehicle bridge next to us began to light up one by one.
The night view of the bridge, illuminated in yellow, was just as beautiful as the sunset.
In the east, the sparkling bridge lights and in the west, the fiery sunset created a moment of beauty!
The ability to see both landscapes of Hamann and Changnyeong simultaneously is the greatest charm of Namji Bridge.
Such a view calls for capturing sunset photos filled with emotion.
After taking many pictures and soaking in the scenery of Neunggasa one last time, I returned home with a heart full of memories.
While the daytime view of Namji Bridge is lovely, I personally recommend visiting slowly from before sunset.
You can enjoy a walk along the Nakdong River, watch the red sunset, and then appreciate the night view of the illuminated bridge.
