Exploring the Innovative 'Mamdaero A+ Playground' in Pocheon

Last year, the Pocheon Educational Culture Complex 'Durun Durun' opened its doors.
Gyeonggi Province's 'Mamdaero A+ Playground'
is evolving beyond a simple play space
to establish itself as a new public play model
that combines digital experiences with physical activities.
The reporter visited
the 'Durun Durun Mamdaero A+ Playground' in Sohwa-eup, Pocheon City
to observe the space's layout, operation, and user reactions firsthand.
The 'Mamdaero A+ Playground' is
a digital convergence playground,
set to open on December 25, 2025,
supported by policies that utilize existing childcare facilities in Gyeonggi Province.
Covering an area of approximately 358.77㎡ (108 pyeong),
it is designed for infants and their parents to enjoy together.
This space features
digital technologies such as AI, AR, and VR
integrated into play activities.
It focuses on interactive content that encourages children to move,
offering a new play experience beyond traditional play areas.
Inside the playground, various AI-based
play content is available, including
motion capture, motion sand blocks, Luka, Finger Story,
Talk Talk Box, and Play-Doh coding programs.
An AI emotional robot welcomes children at the entrance.
This robot responds to children with expressions and voices,
encouraging natural interactions and enhancing familiarity with the play area.
Especially popular are motion-based games
where children's movements prompt reactions on the screen.
Jumping or waving their hands makes characters on the screen move,
inviting children's participation.
Children can touch the screen directly
to play games, enabling score competitions or cooperative play
with simple operations.
Interactive touch devices allow children to complete drawings or manipulate content,
and they receive positive reactions.
This participatory play enhances immersion,
naturally fostering creativity and expressiveness.
In addition to digital play,
there are free play areas available
for children to experience various activities.
A teacher from a daycare center visiting with toddlers
commented, “The children are very active, moving around a lot
while watching the screen, and they enjoy the play space.”
The 'Mamdaero A+ Playground' is characterized by its customized digital playground
where children can choose their favorite play content.
Families wishing to use the playground
can make reservations through the Pocheon City Childcare Support Center's website
and enter via QR code check-in.
A representative from Durun Durun stated,
“The 'Mamdaero A+ Playground' is a new form of public play space
that combines digital technology with physical activities,
providing enjoyable play experiences for children
and a safe space for parents.”
