Akyang Ecological Park - Golden Coreopsis
Address: 1418 Seochon-ri, Daesan-myeon, Hamann-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do
Parking and Entrance Fee: Free
The golden waves of Coreopsis sway gently in the early summer breeze at Hamann's Akyang Ecological Park. This year, I captured the last moments of the Coreopsis bloom. The parking lot is free for visitors, and even on a weekday afternoon, many people came to enjoy the park, highlighting its popularity. I suspect that many visitors are here to catch the final blooms of spring flowers.
The Coreopsis is located towards the reservoir on the right side of the park, easily accessible from the parking area. Right in front of the parking lot, there is a levee path where you can enjoy the flowing Nakdong River alongside the golden flowers.
Along the levee path, you can also find cornflowers blooming alongside the Coreopsis. The cornflowers peaked in May, and many have already wilted. There are three observation decks, each equipped with photo zones.
From the observation decks, you can descend via stairs to a walking path. Here, you can leisurely stroll while enjoying the cool river breeze.
There are benches along the lower walking paths, making it a perfect spot to take photos with the Coreopsis and cornflowers. Although it’s a bit disappointing that their blooming periods do not overlap, the Coreopsis blooms beautifully after the cornflowers have wilted, extending the time to enjoy the flowers.
In the observation area, there are photo zones shaped like a bell and a moon. At night, the sculptures are illuminated, creating a different charm, especially during sunset.
Finally, you can see the Coreopsis in full bloom, complemented by a small pond and wooden fences that harmonize beautifully with the yellow flowers.
Akyang Ecological Park is more spacious than expected and a great place for a walk. You can encounter various flowers, plants, and trees here, which likely explains the high number of visitors.
Currently, the Coreopsis is nearing the end of its blooming season. If you are planning a visit to Akyang Ecological Park, I recommend going soon.
Even if the Coreopsis has all fallen, it’s still a pleasant experience. On hot sunny days, the Nakdong River flows beside you, providing a refreshing breeze. While it may not cool you down completely, that breeze helps ease a busy mind.
Akyang Ecological Park is a place that brings peace to my heart every time I visit.
If you plan to visit Akyang Ecological Park, be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, an umbrella, and cool water, as it can get quite warm.
Next to the ecological pond, there is a convenience store and a café where you can enjoy a drink while exploring the park. The shaded areas are cool, making May a great time to savor a beverage and appreciate the scenery.
At Hamann's Akyang Ecological Park, I was able to experience the early summer scenery alongside the Coreopsis. Even when the flowers have all wilted, the walking paths and views of the Nakdong River make it worth visiting. If you want to enjoy the last leisurely flower paths of early summer, I suggest taking a walk here.
