Enjoying Bicycle Riding and Picnics in the City

In March, as the warm spring breeze begins to blow, I visited a weekend getaway in Jeonju that is easy to reach without going far.
Chimyeongjasan Sacred Site and Baeksok Park are located close to the city center, providing a space where visitors can enjoy nature without any burden.
This is a great outing course in Jeonju for spending leisurely time with children, family, or loved ones.
Chimyeongjasan Sacred Site's Peace Hall is situated along the walking path by the Jeonju Stream, featuring a vast lawn and open scenery that impresses many visitors. It is a beloved spot for citizens to relax and feel nature in the city.
As spring arrives and the weather warms up, families and couples were seen spreading out picnic mats on the grass, enjoying their time together. Even on cloudy days, the sight of a father and son flying a kite or families riding bicycles left a lasting impression.
The expansive lawn allows children to run freely, making it especially suitable for family visitors, and ample parking space makes it convenient to visit.
At Chimyeongjasan Sacred Site, visitors can rent public bicycles from Jeonju City and enjoy riding along the Jeonju Stream.
The bike rental service at Peace Hall offers bicycles for 1,000 won per day, including tandem bikes at the same price, making it an affordable option for everyone. There were many children and families riding bicycles, and it was heartwarming to see parents teaching their kids how to ride. The walking paths are well-paved, making it accessible for beginners, and there are many paths connected to the grassy picnic areas for a light ride.
Additionally, there is a quiet café in front of Peace Hall, perfect for enjoying a cup of tea after a stroll or ride.
Baeksok Park is a city park that Jeonju citizens frequently visit in their daily lives. Named after the nearby Baeksok Reservoir, it is said to have derived its name from the white rocks that once existed in the area. With nearby apartment complexes, it attracts visitors of all ages, from early morning walkers to families out in the afternoon.
As the weather warms, it is common to see children playing outside, and small events and gatherings often take place on the lawn. The park is a space where citizens can enjoy leisure in their own way, even hosting meditation groups. The environment is also designed for observing migratory birds, allowing visitors to connect with nature closely.
The wide lawn and playground provide an excellent environment for children to play freely, and it is also a great place for walking dogs. Many visitors prepare simple snacks at home, lay out mats on the grass, and enjoy their time, making it a perfect spot to relax amidst changing scenery throughout the day.
Baeksok Park feels like a green garden that embraces the daily life of Jeonju, where the footsteps of people exercising under the morning sun continue, and families share lunch on picnic mats in the afternoon. The trees swaying in the wind and the shimmering surface of the water change colors with the seasons, gently flowing through the citizens' day.
Especially at sunset, a red glow spreads over the reservoir, casting long shadows of people walking. The laughter of children and the sound of footsteps naturally build memories of everyday moments. Baeksok Park is a beautiful space even without special facilities, where an ordinary day becomes a scenic experience, and the time spent becomes a moment of rest.
While there is ample parking space for convenience, it is advisable to use the restroom near the entrance before visiting, as there are no restrooms within the park.
Chimyeongjasan Sacred Site and Baeksok Park are great outing courses close to the city center of Jeonju, making it easy to visit. You can enjoy bicycle riding along the Jeonju Stream and have a picnic and stroll on the spacious lawns, making it a perfect way to spend a leisurely day. The biggest charm is that you can feel a sufficient sense of rest in nature without traveling far.
