Discovering Yeompo Observatory in Ulsan

If you're looking for an observatory to enjoy the cityscape of Ulsan, Yeompo Observatory, which has recently been gaining word-of-mouth popularity, is a hidden gem worth visiting.
While it is particularly known as a sunset spot, I found the panoramic view during the day to be even more captivating.
To reach Yeompo Observatory, you can either drive up or hike the trail. I chose to drive for convenience.
The road leading up is narrower than expected, so it's best to drive slowly. The ten-minute drive through the forest is refreshing, with green trees forming a tunnel effect, making the air feel invigorating.
Upon arriving near the summit, there is a designated parking area where you can stop and explore without any hassle.
Yeompo Observatory is located on the slopes of Dongchuksan in Yeompo-dong, Buk-gu, Ulsan. At an elevation of approximately 280 meters, it offers a stunning view of Ulsan city and the sea. The summit features a deck walkway and a circular viewing structure, providing a comprehensive view of the Ulsan landscape.
Though the deck itself isn't very large, walking up slowly expands your field of vision, giving the sensation of getting closer to the clouds.
Below, the lush green forest and the city of Ulsan spread out before you, and with clear weather, you can truly appreciate the open landscape without feeling constricted. The atmosphere of walking in the wind at such heights makes it a pleasant place to take a break.
Beyond the green mountain ridges, you can see the river and the port cityscape extending beautifully, creating a sense of liberation just by gazing at it.
On clear days, the addition of sky and clouds enhances the scenery, making it feel much broader and three-dimensional, allowing you to stand there, lost in thought, simply enjoying the breeze.
From the observatory, you can see the Ulsan sea and urban landscape in one sweeping view, including the Ulsan Bridge and the coastal scenery, where the distant industrial complex and the sea blend intriguingly.
Turning your gaze to the opposite side, you can see the green mountain ridges swaying in the wind, resembling green waves, captivating you for a while.
Yeompo Observatory is a surprisingly quiet and leisurely spot to enjoy the scenery. The open panoramic view, the green mountain landscape, and the refreshing breeze create a healing atmosphere, making it worthwhile to stay for a moment.
If you want to escape the bustling city and experience another charm of Ulsan, visiting during the day is a great idea. Especially on clear days, you can encounter even more refreshing scenery.
