Discovering the Cool Oasis of Gomdeuldam Park

It seems that with the sudden rise in temperature, we find ourselves searching for cooler places.
I would like to share a refreshing spot I visited last weekend.
Gomdeuldam Park, located in Jayang-myeon, Yeongcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Nestled upstream of Yeongcheon Dam, it boasts clear waters and stunning scenery.
This uniquely named place is said to be a field where bears used to play in ancient times.
Imagining it, it feels like a truly magical and adorable space.
Although it is a wild area, picnicking and camping are allowed here.
The park has a spacious private parking area for convenient access.
Additionally, there are restrooms and recycling stations within the park, providing a pleasant environment.
Please note that there is a fine for disposing of food waste in the water fountain, so it must be separated and disposed of properly.
While charcoal use is restricted, gas burners are permitted, attracting many visitors.
However, long-term stays are strictly prohibited to ensure that everyone can enjoy the space, so we should practice good camping etiquette, limiting our stay to the day or 1-2 nights.
In front of the park flows the Jayangcheon stream, which leads into Yeongcheon Lake.
It’s a great spot for dipping your feet or enjoying light water play.
You can also see many freshwater snails and large fish, but please be aware that traps and fishing are prohibited.
The cliffs of Jayangcheon viewed from the park are truly magnificent.
The steep rock formations and clear river waters create a breathtaking landscape.
You can also see large fish swimming gracefully.
The gentle breeze creates ripples on the water, providing a nice relief from the heat.
Isn't it beautiful how the sky reflects like a mirror on the river?
After 3-4 PM, you can see sparkling reflections from the sunlight, resembling a scene from a movie.
Walking along the trail and capturing photos is a delightful experience.
The trees planted along this trail are cherry trees, and in spring, they will create a stunning cherry blossom path, attracting many visitors for photos.
There is a cat that seems to be well-acquainted with people, following them and being quite affectionate.
This weekend, I hope you pack a mat and some snacks to enjoy a picnic with your family at Yeongcheon Gomdeuldam Park!
