In 2026, I had the opportunity to enjoy some alone time and decided to take a trip to Hamann, visiting Daepyeong Wetland and Daepyeong Village.
The gentle breeze was refreshing, and I enjoyed flower viewing while listening to the amusing bubbling sounds from the wetland.
I drove there, and there was a well-organized parking lot in front of Daepyeong Village, making it easy to park.
In front of the village, I could also see historical markers indicating that a stone tablet was erected to preserve the history for future generations.
Daepyeong Wetland was designated as Natural Monument No. 346 in 1984. It is a precious treasure that provided many people with fish during times of food scarcity.
The beautiful flowers planted along the paths were a lovely welcome.
The harmony between Daepyeong Wetland and the beautiful flowers made for a moment of gratitude towards nature.
Since I visited alone, it was incredibly quiet.
There were warning signs along the trail indicating that capturing or fishing for animals and plants in the protected area is prohibited.
While walking the trail, I could see fish swimming between the wetlands. It is a vast area, and I turned back after about an hour.
There were signs indicating the wetland plant species and pavilions installed in various locations, allowing for comfortable resting spots.
Daepyeong Wetland is home to endangered species such as the prickly water lily, willow, reeds, duckweed, water hyacinth, and various types of ducks and geese. It is a valuable place for studying diverse wetland plants, as designated by the Ministry of Environment.
Fishing is definitely not allowed here.
Nearby, there are many travel destinations such as the Malsan Tombs, Akyang Eco Park, Ipok National Park, Mujinjeong, Gangnaru Eco Park, and the Lotus Theme Park.
In summer, I could have enjoyed the blooming pink lotus flowers, so I will look forward to next year.
If I'm lucky, I might even encounter some ducks diving underwater to catch fish.
After an hour of walking for exercise and healing at Daepyeong Wetland, I explored Daepyeong Village. The colorful murals in the village were impressive, especially the beautiful paintings of the sun, clouds, mountains, water, rocks, trees, deer, and turtles.
If you're looking for a peaceful and quiet travel destination in Hamann this autumn, consider visiting Daepyeong Wetland and Daepyeong Village.
