A Spring Day at Hamju Park

By Kim Myung-hoon, 14th SNS Reporter
Spring has arrived, bringing warmth to the air. While there is still a noticeable temperature difference between day and night, small signs of spring are emerging all around.
One of the first signs of change is the increasing number of people enjoying walks in the parks. Today, I would like to introduce Hamju Park, a place where you can feel these changes first.
The park has a public parking lot that is free to use. Right next to the parking lot is the entrance to Hamju Park, along with public restrooms.
In front of the restrooms, there is a water play area for children. You can see tables and chairs nearby where parents and children can take a break. This area is only open during the summer, so currently, it is locked. I can’t wait for the day it opens in the summer!
Hamju Park also features an X-GAME area. Here, you can use skateboards, BMX bikes, aggressive inline skates, and stunt scooters, but remember that wearing protective gear is mandatory.
Additionally, there is a green living experience area where you can pedal a bicycle to generate electricity. If you pedal for 15 minutes, you can produce 25wh, and for an hour, you can generate 100wh. It’s a great way to exercise while producing energy, so why not give it a try?
One of the favorite spots for children is the toddler forest experience area, filled with various play facilities. Each facility has age recommendations, so it's best to check them and have a guardian accompany the children.
This area is perfect for kids to explore and play. As outdoor activities increase, consider visiting with your children. The laughter of children will surely fill the air.
Did you know there's a picture book bus library at Hamju Park? There seems to be so much for children to enjoy here. The outside of the bus is decorated with cute illustrations, perfect for taking photos with kids.
Inside, a staff member is present, and there are seats for reading books. The library is open from Tuesday to Friday, 10 AM to 2 PM, and closed on Mondays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They are currently looking for volunteers on weekends, so if you're interested, keep that in mind.
I was surprised to see so many books on display. It’s a great place to pick out books that children will love.
After leaving the bus library, I continue my walk. Thanks to the benches placed along the path, I can pause, sit down, and share stories. Taking a moment to relax is a nice idea.
Hamju Park also has a beautiful pond and pavilion. Although the pond is currently dry, once it's filled again, it would be lovely to rest there and enjoy the scenery.
In Hamju Park, you can see the plum blossoms blooming. While they are not fully in bloom yet, they will soon be at their peak, making it a perfect time for viewing.
As the plum blossoms herald the arrival of spring, cherry blossoms will soon follow. With the gentle spring breeze, if you're wondering where to go for an outing with your children, consider taking a leisurely stroll around Hamju Park. The toddler forest experience and the bus library will allow children to play freely, while flowers bloom along the paths, enhancing the atmosphere of your outing.
How about spending a day at Hamju Park, walking, running, and laughing with your children to feel the essence of spring?
