[Reporter: Choi Jun-hyuk]
Spring has settled like a white blanket over the pond!
The opening is until April 26.
Did you know there is a special place in Gyeonggi-do's Gapyeong that opens only twice a year, in spring and autumn?
It's the Cheongpyeong Central Inland Water Research Institute.
During spring, it opens its doors for just two weeks, making a visit itself meaningful.
This year's spring opening is from April 11 to 26, welcoming visitors with various events.

The institute has been a national facility conducting inland water research since it opened as a fish farm in 1949.
After relocating to Geumsan-gun in Chungcheongnam-do in 2021, it now opens only during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons for local residents.
The main walking path around the pond allows visitors to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
Originally, this pond was created to develop breeding techniques for native freshwater fish like carp and to restore endangered species.
Managed as a secure facility for a long time, it provides a stunning view rarely seen elsewhere.
This year, due to the early blooming of cherry blossoms, many petals had already fallen by the time of the visit.
However, the sight of petals scattered across the pond created a unique and beautiful landscape.
As you walk along the path, you'll pass a small building where an art exhibition is currently being held, enhancing the picturesque scenery.
Although many blossoms have fallen, the spring at Cheongpyeong is not over yet.
The opening events will continue until April 26, offering diverse sights and experiences.
On weekdays, you can enjoy a cherry blossom café and a direct market, along with various activities.
On weekends, cherry blossom busking performances create a lively atmosphere, making it a great time for a casual visit.
This beautiful natural environment is perfect for a family outing.
Children can enjoy feeding the koi fish in the pond, a free experience that adds to the fun.
The entrance area has limited parking, so using public transport is recommended.
For those driving, it's better to use the nearby public parking lot.
Why not visit the Cheongpyeong Central Inland Water Research Institute this weekend to enjoy the charming pond covered in petals and delightful performances?
