A Delightful Family Musical: 'Lucky to Be Ddu-sik' Review
I had the pleasure of watching the family musical, 'Lucky to Be Ddu-sik'!
The story of Ddu-sik and Ddu-soon, realistic siblings who bicker whenever they meet, is truly entertaining. My child usually loves Ddu-sik so I am familiar with this character, but seeing him come to life right before my eyes was amazing!
It was quite fascinating! I imagine the actors must have been very hot and uncomfortable wearing those masks, but the masks were realistically well-made.
Inevitably, the dialogue and songs echoed a bit because of the masks, but it wasn't a big issue because the microphone and sound system were quite good.
Although introduced as ordinary, the main character Kim Ddu-sik is anything but ordinary in appearance. His name alone fills you with anticipation.

They were selling a variety of merchandise including pens, enamel cups, books, toy swords, glow sticks, and, of course, Ddu-sik and Ddu-soon plush dolls and keychains, even acrylic keyrings!
Absolutely adorable! But I wish they were a little cheaper...
The acrylic keyrings were originally 5,000 KRW each, but it seemed like they had a 'Buy 2 for 8,000 KRW' deal.
The show runs for 75 minutes without intermission, but including the curtain call and photo time, it lasted over 90 minutes. Upon entering, you are greeted by Ddu-sik's family.
The story begins when Ddu-sik gets an assignment to find out about his family's dreams and starts asking them.
It made me think, 'What was my dream?'
The story was interesting, cleverly using a wish-granting wall as a central element.
Personally, I felt that the actor playing Ddu-sik had the best singing skills, despite not being able to see their face because of the mask.
There were many lyrics and lines that resonated with me.
Through the 'Lucky to Be Ddu-sik' musical, I think it would be great to seriously consider what you truly want. It dealt with children's realistic concerns in a witty way, making it even more meaningful. Ddu-sik, who argues with his sister every day, comes to realize the importance of his family, especially his sister, by the end of the show. It was a touching story, which is why I recommend it as a family musical.
