October Reflections: A Whirlwind of Life, Luck, and Lotte World!

It feels like 2025 just started, but after a whirlwind of life’s ups and downs, it's already October! Time is flying by, and while my weekly blogging goals haven't quite panned out, I’m making sure to capture the highlights of this month. From a 2-night, 3-day Seoul adventure to the highs and lows of baseball season, October has been a month of discovery and shared memories.
This month was headlined by a trip to Jamsil with Gongju, featuring the dizzying heights of Lotte World Tower (롯데월드타워) and the magical atmosphere of Lotte World. Whether we were exploring textbooks come to life at the National Museum of Korea or navigating the crowded streets of the capital, every moment was a fascinating experience for this "country boy" from Daegu. Here’s a look back at an October to remember.
The Jamsil Experience: Heights, Udon, and Magic Castles
Our Seoul journey started in Jamsil, where the sheer scale of the Lotte World Tower made me feel like an ant. We fueled up at a chewy udon restaurant inside the mall—though Gyeongju’s udon still holds the top spot in my heart! We finally conquered Lotte World; despite the massive holiday crowds, watching the extravagant parade made the long lines worth it.
City Lights from the Sky Bridge
The Seoul Sky Observatory was a major highlight. The elevator ride was incredibly fast, whisking us up to a view that Gongju jokingly called a "fiery hellscape" because of the vibrant city lights below. We even took a moment to write a wish tag, hoping for a smooth rest of the year as we looked out over the sprawling night view of Seoul.
Cultural Deep Dive: Museums and Modern Architecture
Day two was all about culture. Passing the 63 Building on our way, we reached the National Museum of Korea. I was genuinely shocked by the size of some artifacts—things that looked small in history textbooks were as big as me in person! We also marveled at the futuristic Amorepacific headquarters before making our way to the historic Gwanghwamun square.
Art and Reflection
We spent time at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. While modern art remains a bit obscure and difficult for me to fully grasp, the space itself was beautiful. It provided a perfect backdrop for some great photos of Gongju, even if I’m still debating whether to change my profile picture to one of them!
Baseball Woes and Home Comforts
Back in my routine, I hit my 5th live game of the season. I even geared up with a new SANSAN GEAR collaboration uniform, but it seems I might be a jinx—we lose every time I buy a new one! To cheer up, I spent time organizing my uniform collection into cases I found at Daiso, inspired by an Instagram hack. It’s not a perfect match, but it gets the job done.
Would you like me to find the best local 'Jjukkumi' restaurants in your current area for a spicy dinner, or should I look up the schedule for the next Korean Series baseball games?
