After visiting a pop-up event near Seongsu Station, I stopped by Muhwa, a Japanese restaurant known for its clean atmosphere and refined flavors.
Located just a short walk from the station and offering easy Naver reservations, it turned out to be a comfortable choice even during busy dinner hours.
From mazesooba and anki-maki to a visually stunning sake uni don, this visit left a strong impression of balance, quality, and thoughtful presentation.
Muhwa(무화화) in Seongsu-dong: A Calm and Refined Japanese Dining Spot
Recently, I visited a Japanese restaurant called Muhwa in Seongsu-dong. After checking out a pop-up event at Olive Young near Seongsu Station, I was looking for a nearby place that offered clean yet satisfying food.
Muhwa immediately stood out as a good option, especially since it is only about a three-minute walk from Exit 4 of Seongsu Station.
Location, Hours, and Reservation Details
Address: 18 Yeonmujang 5-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, 1st Floor, Room 102.
The restaurant operates from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with the last order at 8:20 PM. On weekdays, there is a break time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Paid parking is available, and reservations can be made through Naver, which made it easy to avoid waiting.
Interior Atmosphere Perfect for Dates and Conversations
Even during the early dinner hour, the restaurant was already busy. As soon as a table opened, I quickly took in the interior.
The space felt impressively clean and well-organized, with generous spacing between tables. It felt comfortable enough for relaxed conversations.
The atmosphere makes Muhwa suitable for dates, blind dates, or small gatherings without feeling crowded or noisy.
Easy Ordering with a Tabletop Kiosk
Each table is equipped with a small kiosk displaying the menu along with photos, which made ordering simple and intuitive.
The first items that caught my eye were the nabeyaki dishes and the maki menu. Seeing anki-maki on the list immediately convinced me to order it.
For the main dish, we considered several rice bowls such as sake don and sake ikura don before finally choosing the sake uni don.
Mazesooba with Rich Aroma and Balanced Flavor
The mazesooba, priced at 13,500 won, arrived first and immediately stood out with its generous meat toppings.
A glossy egg yolk sat at the center, surrounded by minced meat, green onions, and seaweed. Mixing everything together released a nutty, slightly spicy aroma.
The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the sauce felt clean and well-balanced, never too salty or greasy. Although kelp vinegar was provided, the base flavor was so satisfying that I barely used it.
Anki-maki That Is Hard to Find and Easy to Love
The anki-maki, priced at 12,000 won, is a dish I rarely find on menus, so ordering it felt almost automatic.
Six pieces were served with generous portions of anki-maki, making it quite filling. The first bite delivered a creamy, rich flavor that felt indulgent without being overwhelming.
Adding wasabi, which was served separately, brought a clean finish that balanced the richness beautifully.
Sake Uni Don That Delivers Both Flavor and Visual Impact
The sake uni don, priced at 24,000 won, was visually stunning when it arrived at the table.
Thick slices of aged salmon covered the rice, topped generously with sea urchin and salmon roe. Combining all three delivered a rich yet harmonious bite.
The freshness of the salmon, uni, and roe made the bowl satisfying and filling, especially when paired with the mazesooba and anki-maki.
The plating was so beautiful that we ended up filming the dishes before eating.
If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, and satisfying Japanese dining experience in Seongsu, Muhwa is a place worth visiting. Whether for a date or a casual gathering, it leaves a strong impression.
