Recommended Local Restaurants in Jeju's Jungmun Area

I frequently visit Jeju Island because I love it so much.
Recently, a friend who moved to Jeju informed me about a local favorite restaurant in Jungmun.
So, I decided to visit during my recent trip.
Hanra Galchi Jungmun Branch
Address: 7 Jungmun Tourist Road, Seogwipo, Jeju
Operating Hours: Daily 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM (Last order at 9:00 PM)
Menu: Hanra Set for 4 people at 139,000 KRW
The place I visited is called Hanra Galchi, and it has received many positive reviews.
It is famous for cooking Jeju silver cutlassfish with traditional seasonings that have been maintained for over 30 years.
There is parking available in front of the restaurant.
The interior of the restaurant was impressive, clean, and modern, allowing for a comfortable dining experience.
They also had high chairs available for families with children.
Additionally, there was a self-service bar where you could get extra side dishes, all made with care, ensuring they were delicious and safe to eat.
The menu at this local favorite requires a minimum order for two people, featuring a variety of dishes from stews to grilled items and abalone, allowing for a colorful dining experience.
When the food arrived, I was amazed by its presentation and variety, which stimulated my appetite.
First, I tried the side dishes, which had a clean taste reminiscent of home cooking, appealing to all ages.
Especially the corn was delightful, providing a pleasant texture and sweetness.
1. Chewy Dongbe Meat
The restaurant served cold boiled pork, which was initially off-putting for me, but I found its texture and chewiness to be impressive.
It had no unpleasant pork smell, making it easy to enjoy, and paired with the provided sauce, it was quite flavorful.
2. Abalone Rice
This rice dish was topped with chewy abalone and had a lovely aroma of the sea.
The rice was fluffy and went well with the side dishes, providing a great balance.
They also served a seaweed soup that, while appearing ordinary, had a refreshing taste that was comforting.
3. Juicy Black Pork Galbi
The black pork galbi was thick, juicy, and tender, appealing to both young and old alike.
It was complemented by grilled abalone, making for a hearty meal.
4. Spicy Cutlassfish Stew
This dish featured boneless cutlassfish, making it easy to eat, and included various ingredients like octopus and tofu.
The seasoning was spicy yet not overly sweet, enhancing the flavor of the fish.
5. Grilled Whole Cutlassfish
The grilled cutlassfish was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, showcasing its natural flavor.
The staff even removed the bones for easy eating, concluding my delightful meal at Hanra Galchi.
Overall, Hanra Galchi lived up to its reputation, providing a satisfying dining experience.
