After a long time craving Japanese home-style cuisine, I visited Midoin in Hongdae. ๐
With rising prices, "value for money" is a major concern when dining out these days, right?
But this place definitely satisfies!
The name Midoin (ๅณ้ไบบ) means 'people who seek flavor,' and it truly lived up to its name as a place where you can properly enjoy a variety of flavors.
Located in a quiet but charming alley between Hongdae and Hapjeong stations, it's perfect for a date, with a cozy atmosphere.
It deserves to be called a Hongdae restaurant with great atmosphere and value for money! ๐

Even on a weekday evening, the warm lights welcomed me from the outside.
I made a reservation, and it was a good thing I did.
Waiting in line after work would have been exhausting!๐
2. Signage
The phrase โHome-style Steak Restaurantโ on the sign gave me confidence.
The gold sign and Chinese characters had a subtly retro vibe!~
There was a best-menu board next to the main entrance that naturally caught my eye.
After much deliberation, I chose the Flank Steak Triple!
Meat is always the best choice for the main dish, haha.

These days, many juices have fake fruit flavoring, but this was the real deal!
My mood instantly lifted after the first sip.

Simple side dishes like pickled radish and seaweed.
I liked that they didnโt interfere with the main dishes.
The cleanliness is a plus!

The taste was comforting.
Perfect as a pre-meal starter.

Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside.
Soft-boiled yolk with fried breading.

This is definitely Midoin's signature dish.
I will order it again if I revisit!

I love cheese balls.
These were really chewy.
Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside.
They were really delicious, and the flavor was even better when eaten with the sauce next to them. ๐

I thought it would be a light salad.
But it was quite substantial because it contained meat.
Especially, the cherry tomatoes were marinated, giving them a sweet, dried-persimmon-like taste!
It was amazing.

And because it was fried crispy.
It was a great match with the egg rice.
The soy sauce was subtly attractive, so I kept reaching for my spoon.

So I could mix them as I like.

I was really happy.
I thought, โAh, this is why people come to Midoin.โ
This is definitely a Hongdae restaurant with great value for money.

I was honestly surprised at this quality for this price in Hongdae.
Thanks to the varied menu.
There is a great combination of foods that canโt fail, no matter who you go with!
It was a space that was suitable for dates.
As well as gatherings with friends, family meals, and even dining alone.
Thanks to the clean interior.
The atmosphere was good.
Above all, I was satisfied because each dish was carefully prepared.
