Must-Visit Places in Goeasan County
A special festival with a vibrant atmosphere was held in Goeasan County, known for its unique name.
The 'Goeasan Red Flavor Festival' showcased local specialties and red spring flowers.
The festival took place from May 22 to 24 at the Goeasan Organic Expo Plaza and along the Dongjin Stream, attracting many visitors with a variety of food, experiences, and performances.
At the entrance of the festival, the Goeasan Volunteer Center booth offered refreshing goji berry drinks for free, perfectly complementing the festive atmosphere and warmly welcoming visitors.
In one corner of the venue, the Red Market featured a variety of local specialties, particularly organic foods, as Goeasan is known for its active eco-friendly agriculture.
Many farms practice eco-friendly cultivation methods, reducing chemical fertilizers and pesticides, ensuring that visitors can trust the food being sold.
The Goeasan Cultural and Sports Center lobby hosted a firefly experience program, which was particularly popular among families, allowing children to learn about nature while observing fireflies at night.
True to its name, the red flavor-themed food zone was also a highlight, featuring spicy dishes like tteokbokki, dumplings, smoked duck, and handmade hot dogs, all presented with striking visuals.
The food truck zone added to the lively atmosphere, offering various snacks and beverages, with a 5% discount for visitors wearing red clothing, hats, or shoes.
Various experience programs were available, including a tea culture experience booth where participants learned about tea etiquette and sampled red-hued tea and snacks.
A free photo printing event also drew visitors' interest, providing instant prints of photos taken at designated spots, and offering framed prints for those who shared them on social media.
Visitors could also participate in a roulette event by presenting receipts of over 10,000 won spent in Goeasan or by completing a satisfaction survey, with various prizes available.
On the day I visited, a Red Flavor Sports Day was held in the stadium, featuring local representatives participating in group games and activities, providing entertainment for all.
The main stage hosted performances throughout the festival, including a cheerleading competition, a Red Hot concert, and a performance by the Chungbuk Provincial Symphony Orchestra, creating an exciting atmosphere.
The festival concluded with a spicy food-eating contest and a retro concert on the last day, wrapping up the event with a flourish.
A free water play zone for children was also set up, providing a refreshing escape from the early summer heat.
One of the most impressive sights of the Goeasan Red Flavor Festival was the flower path along Dongjin Stream, adorned with red poppies, peonies, and flower grasses, creating a beautiful atmosphere for leisurely walks.
Although the festival ended on May 24, the flower path and photo zones will remain open until May 31, inviting visitors to experience the vibrant spring scenery.
