Exploring Jeju's Black Pork Delicacies at Donhyanggi

If you're planning a trip to Jeju Island, one of the must-try dishes is the famous black pork. I love indulging in good food, especially while traveling, and during my recent 3-night, 4-day trip, I had the pleasure of sampling various local delicacies. Among them, the black pork stood out as the highlight of my culinary experience!
One of the top recommendations I received was a restaurant called Donhyanggi, located conveniently close to the airport. It's perfect for your first or last meal in Jeju, just a 10-minute drive from the airport. The surrounding area is home to famous tourist attractions like Dongmun Market and Yongduam Rock, making it easy to plan your itinerary.
The restaurant features a spacious and comfortable interior, which was a pleasant surprise. Unlike many typical BBQ places that can feel smoky and cramped, Donhyanggi is clean and spacious, providing an ideal environment for a relaxed dining experience. They also offer dedicated parking, which is a huge plus!
After settling in, we browsed the menu and decided to order their signature black pork and seafood set. We chose to have squid as our seafood option, as it's currently in season. The side dishes served were diverse and delicious, complementing the pork perfectly. The standout was the meljeot (fermented shrimp sauce), which was flavorful without being overpowering.
The main dishes, black pork and squid, looked stunning and tasted even better. The staff expertly grilled the meat and squid, showcasing their grilling skills. The pork was juicy and tender, bursting with flavor, while the squid was chewy and delightful, making it the perfect accompaniment to our meal.
To finish off, the set included cold noodles, which were a refreshing way to conclude our meal. We ordered both water and spicy cold noodles, and they were the perfect palate cleansers. The combination of the noodles with the black pork was exceptional.
In summary, Donhyanggi offers a fantastic dining experience with great taste, value, and convenience. Whether you're visiting with friends, family, or a loved one, this restaurant is a must-visit during your trip to Jeju!
