While planning my trip to Andong's Hahoe Village,
one of the things I looked forward to the most was
tasting the local traditional food.
Before enjoying the serene beauty of the Hanok,
I stopped by Turjudae-gam, located in the market area
right before entering Hahoe Village,
to indulge in a wonderful meal.
The combination of Andong Jjimdak and grilled mackerel,
which preserves the essence of tradition,
was truly impressive,
so I’m excited to share this delightful experience with you.
✨ Key Highlights
Menu:
The combination set of Andong Jjimdak and grilled mackerel is excellent.
Taste and Texture:
The seasoning of the Jjimdak is well absorbed,
and the grilled mackerel is perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
Visiting Tips:
It’s a great place to eat before or after entering Hahoe Village,
with ample parking space.
???? Location of Turjudae-gam
Address: 217 Jeonseo-ro, Pungcheon-myeon, Andong-si, Gyeongbuk
Operating Hours: 09:00 - 20:00
Last Order: 19:00
Turjudae-gam is located on Hahoe Jongga-gil,
easily found within the market area right in front of the ticket office.
It’s a perfect spot to fill your stomach
after taking a shuttle bus or walking around the village.
The location is stress-free to access,
making it convenient to visit while exploring Hahoe Village.
????️ Convenient Parking Information
You can use the large public parking lot
at Hahoe Market,
so parking is not a worry at all.
The spacious parking area allows you to park comfortably
even during peak times on weekends.
The path from the parking lot to the restaurant is flat,
making it very accessible for seniors and children.
???? A Glimpse of Turjudae-gam
As you approach the restaurant,
the traditional atmosphere with elegant wooden pillars
fills you with the charm of Andong even before your meal.
Inside, the spacious and well-maintained hall catches your eye.
The wooden tables are generously arranged,
and the wide spacing between seats allows for a comfortable dining experience.
There’s also a booth selling traditional crafts at the entrance.
Currently, if you write a review on Naver receipt,
you can receive a ladle or spatula as a gift,
so make sure to participate if you visit.
???? Taste Evaluation of Signature Dishes
I enjoyed the signature dishes,
Andong Jjimdak and grilled mackerel,
as a set meal.
The unique feature of Andong Jjimdak is that it’s not overly sweet;
the slight spiciness in the aftertaste enhances the overall flavor.
The chicken is tender,
and there’s plenty of glass noodles to mix with the rice.
The grilled mackerel, cooked over charcoal,
is moist and brings out the unique flavor of mackerel.
It’s rich and has no fishy taste,
making it a perfect complement to rice.
If you love grilled mackerel,
I highly recommend trying it.
???? Final Thoughts
The meal is completed with a refreshing dessert of Sikhye,
which cleanses the palate.
After a sip, it leaves you feeling refreshed.
Ordering the set menu is better than ordering individual dishes,
as it includes both Jjimdak and grilled mackerel,
along with side dishes and soybean paste stew.
