Discovering the Charm of Jeju's Black Pork in Seogwipo

Jeju Seogwipo Black Pork Restaurant - Outdoor Experience
With the beautiful weather lately, I really wanted to enjoy some grilled meat in an outdoor setting rather than indoors. While traveling, I searched for such a place and discovered a restaurant in Seogwipo that looked promising. Upon arrival, it perfectly matched the atmosphere I had in mind, making me very satisfied. It's especially a great spot for those who love the nostalgic vibe of traditional restaurants.
1. I was enchanted
My companions and I couldn't stop talking about the impressive spread until we finished our meal. The arrangement on the table was delightful, and every dish was tempting. This place stood out not just for its outdoor ambiance but also for the quality of the food.
2. Easy to find
Reaching the restaurant was quite easy. We traveled from near Seogwipo Kal Hotel and arrived in no time by car. It was also within walking distance from Olle Market, making it a convenient stop while exploring the area.
3. Authentic outdoor vibe
What I loved most was the ambiance of the restaurant. It had a unique comfort that sets it apart from the trendy modern BBQ places. With the windows open and the awning rolled up, fresh air flowed in, enhancing the outdoor feel. The neat interior also allowed for a clean dining experience.
4. No inconveniences
While there wasn't dedicated parking, it wasn't a hassle at all. There was a public parking lot nearby, so we could park and walk without any burden.
5. Food ordering
As soon as we sat down, we checked the menu and, of course, ordered the black pork. True to its name, black pork was the main highlight of the menu.
While we waited, the side dishes and sauces started to arrive. The selection included green onion salad, fresh vegetables, and meljeot sauce, all perfectly complementing the meat. It was convenient that we could get more from the self-service bar if needed.
Before the meat arrived, I asked to take a quick look at the raw pork. The bright red meat had a good distribution of fat, indicating its quality. Even without being an expert, I could tell it looked promising.
The pork was pre-cooked over charcoal before being served, which took a little time. Meanwhile, I tasted the black pork kimchi stew we ordered. It was surprisingly memorable, with well-cooked kimchi adding depth to the broth and a generous amount of meat.
Finally, the pre-cooked black pork was presented. Despite being partially cooked, it had a substantial thickness, unlike other places where pre-cooked meat tends to look thin.
The staff helped finish cooking it, which was quite convenient on a hot day, as we didn't have to stay by the grill the whole time. They also grilled vegetables alongside, which were particularly good.
Once the pork was well-cooked, I tried it plain first. The outside was crispy while the inside remained juicy, bursting with flavor with each bite.
Next, I wrapped the pork in sesame leaves and lettuce, which balanced the richness of the meat beautifully. I also dipped it in meljeot sauce, enhancing the savory flavor of the pork.
We enjoyed a glass of Hallasan soju alongside the charcoal-flavored black pork, which truly elevated the travel experience.
To wrap up, the cold buckwheat noodles we ordered were satisfying, with a generous amount of young radish and a refreshing broth, perfect for clearing the palate after the rich meal.
Overall, I found this restaurant to be well-balanced in food and atmosphere. If you enjoy the nostalgic feel of traditional restaurants and an outdoor dining experience, I highly recommend visiting this black pork spot in Seogwipo.
