After a long time, I visited HanuSung with a friend to enjoy some delicious Korean beef in Hoengseong.
This place is well-known for its quality and offers free pick-up and drop-off services to nearby accommodations, making it easy to visit without a car. Thanks to this, we could also enjoy a drink during our meal, making the experience even more enjoyable.
HanuSung is just a 5-minute drive from Wellihillipark, which made it very convenient to reach. When making the reservation, I inquired about the pick-up service, and they confirmed it was available from nearby pensions or Dunnae Station, which made our travel very comfortable.
The restaurant has a spacious parking lot, so even if you drive, you won't have to worry about parking. The pick-up vehicle was larger than expected, accommodating groups easily, and dropping us off right at the entrance was very convenient.
Upon entering, the restaurant gave off a clean and spacious vibe. There were separate areas for both table and floor seating, and the tables were well-spaced, providing a sense of privacy. The staff guided us to our seats promptly.
There were also quiet rooms available that seemed perfect for group gatherings, and I noticed several reserved rooms, indicating the restaurant's popularity.
After being seated, we headed to the meat corner to select our beef. The showcase displayed premium Hanwoo beef, beautifully prepared, with weights and prices clearly marked for easy selection.
After choosing the meat, we could scan the barcode ourselves to confirm the weight. There was also a scale available for checking the weight, and I found it reassuring that the weight matched the price list perfectly.
Near the entrance, there was a coffee machine available for post-meal refreshments, allowing us to enjoy a satisfying end to our meal without needing to visit another cafe.
When the meat arrived, the table was quickly set with a variety of side dishes, including salads, various kimchis, and sauces, which caught our attention. The refreshing salad was a perfect start.
We also tried the pickled peppers, which were a delightful treat. The mild heat of the peppers paired well with the sweet soy sauce, making it a great side dish.
The diced radish kimchi was crunchy and refreshing. It was perfectly fermented, and I could imagine enjoying it simply on top of warm white rice.
The white kimchi was tangy and refreshing, making it a suitable palate cleanser. All the side dishes were delicious, and the quick refills made it easy to enjoy without hesitation.
The first dish on the grill was the Chateaubriand. We also got some mushrooms for grilling, including king oyster and button mushrooms, adding variety to our meal.
I had never heard of the Chateaubriand cut before, but it is known to be a premium cut from the tenderloin. It is low in fat, offering a delicate yet rich flavor that I was eager to try.
Well-cooked meat was dipped in a special sauce made from Hoengseong deodeok, which was salty yet fragrant, complementing the Hanwoo perfectly.
While enjoying the delicious beef, I couldn't resist having a glass of soju. The free round-trip pick-up service allowed me to enjoy my drink comfortably.
Next up was the ribeye, which also had beautiful marbling that made my mouth water. I heard that this restaurant has won awards for its Hanwoo quality, and I could truly understand why after tasting it.
A piece of lightly grilled meat topped with pickled peppers melted in my mouth almost instantly. The sweet and savory pickled peppers enhanced the flavor beautifully.
Personally, I found that the basic combination of salt and wasabi brought out the best in the Hanwoo. The quality of the meat was so good that the juices burst forth with every bite.
The sirloin was also cut thick, allowing for a steak-like texture. I could see the glistening juices seeping through, and I realized that beef could be this tender.
Adding the white kimchi from the restaurant made for a refreshing and sweet combination that captured my taste buds. Even without any sauce, the seasoning was spot on, making it a very satisfying pairing.
The soybean paste stew we ordered came in a hot stone pot and included rice. The broth was rich, and there was meat inside, along with refreshing radish, which made each bite delightful.
Since the broth was thick, I mixed it with the rice right away. With mushrooms, onions, and tofu included, every bite felt hearty.
Even though I was full, I wanted a clean finish, so I ordered cold noodles. The broth was so refreshing that I could drink it straight from the bowl.
Adding pickled radish to the noodles made for a chewy texture that was incredibly satisfying. The refreshing taste cut through the remaining oil, making it hard to stop eating.
If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience in Hoengseong, I confidently recommend HanuSung.
