A Must-Visit Spot for Jeju's Meat Noodle Soup: Baejigeun's Pork Belly Delight

During my trip to Jeju, I planned to try the famous meat noodle soup but ended up thoroughly enjoying the pork belly as well.
Here’s a detailed review of my experience at Baejigeun, a well-known restaurant for Jeju's meat noodle soup, where I indulged in fresh pork belly.
Address: 1, Cheonsu-ro 6-gil, Jeju City, Jeju
Operating Hours: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Closed on Mondays
1. Location and Interior of Baejigeun
Baejigeun is situated in the Ido 2-dong area, close to the airport, making it a great first stop on your trip.
Upon entering, the clean and simple decor gives off a traditional Korean restaurant vibe, complemented by the rich aroma of bone broth wafting through the air.
With an open kitchen layout, it was clear that hygiene was a priority, and I could see the cooks preparing the dishes, which reassured me about the quality of the food.
2. Enjoying Fresh Pork Belly at Jeju's Meat Noodle Soup Restaurant
The highlight of my meal was the fresh pork belly, which pairs perfectly with the meat noodle soup. The pork is locally sourced, and a serving contains 200g for 14,000 KRW, which is quite reasonable compared to the market price of Jeju black pork.
At the self-service bar, you can help yourself to side dishes like radish kimchi, fresh onions, and even pork liver.
3. Basic Setup and Visual Appeal of Jeju's Fresh Pork Belly
As soon as I ordered the fresh pork belly, they set up the grill and side dishes, including seasoned bean sprouts and pickled onions, which complemented the meat perfectly.
The thinly sliced pickled onions helped cut through the richness of the pork, enhancing the overall flavor during the meal.
The fresh pork belly was beautifully arranged on the plate, showcasing a vibrant pink color with a good balance of meat and fat, indicating high quality.
4. Taste Evaluation of Fresh Pork Belly
After grilling the pork belly to a golden perfection, I took a bite and was pleasantly surprised by the absence of any unpleasant odors. The rich flavor of the fat enveloped my palate.
The texture was spot on, crispy on the outside while remaining juicy inside, without the heaviness that often comes with pork belly.
5. The Allure of Baejigeun's Pork Belly and Meat Noodle Soup
The quality of the fresh pork belly, combined with the clean and flavorful broth of the meat noodle soup, makes Baejigeun a highly recommended spot in Jeju. Although I didn’t capture any photos of the meat noodle soup, the rich and deep flavor still lingers in my memory.
