A Hidden Gem: Pungdongga

Hello, this is the owner! :0
Today, I want to introduce you to a beloved restaurant from my old neighborhood!
It's called Pungdongga!
Location & Basic Information
Address: 24, Okgu-sangga 2-gil, Jeongwang-dong, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do
Operating Hours: 16:00 - 22:00
Closed: Every Sunday
Signature Dish: Jeju Black Pig Neck Meat (served in chunks)
Atmosphere: Authentic meat house vibe favored by locals
The interior has a cozy cylindrical table with plenty of space!
This is about my 5th or 6th visit, and since this place is located near industrial complexes, it’s always bustling with customers enjoying their meat and soju after work.
You know a true hidden gem is packed with locals!
So, I usually call ahead to check for availability, but luckily on this day, there was some space, and we were seated right away.
Since we had just eaten, we decided to order some pork neck and soybean paste stew as light snacks.
By the way, Pungdongga only uses carefully selected domestic meat (Jeju black pig)!
While waiting for the meat, I enjoyed a beer.
As I get older, I find myself craving beer more than soju, though I did have some soju today.
Look at that meat! This incredible piece is something else.
The owner personally grills the meat from start to finish, which enhances its aroma and flavor.
I also ordered a soybean paste stew to enjoy on the side.
This was only 1,000 won! The owner's kindness is commendable.
I’ll definitely come back with friends to enjoy some drinks next time.
They have a famous side dish called Yangpun Kimchi Soup, but I prefer soybean paste stew when eating meat.
Can’t I just eat already? I can’t wait; my mouth is watering.
This familiar taste is just too tempting.
I’ve been to many meat restaurants, but this quality at this price is a blessing.
Personally, I don’t usually like pork neck, but this one is incredibly tender and packed with flavor.
It reminds me of the meat I had at a now-closed place in Euljiro.
I apologize for not focusing more on taking pictures; I was too busy enjoying the food.
They also have some delicious side dishes, including two types of aged kimchi that are great as snacks.
The dipping sauce for the meat is called Meljeot, which I love, even though it has a strong smell.
That’s it for my beloved restaurant introduction. Bye!
