Recently, I took a trip to Jeonju with my two daughters!
We left early in the morning, and upon arriving in Jeonju, it was too early for lunch. So, we enjoyed some snacks near Jeonju Hanok Village while continuing our joyful journey. Let me share our delightful experience at the cafe 'Mom & Tart' in Jeonju Hanok Village, where we savored delicious tarts.
Egg tarts are a favorite not just for the kids but for me as well! I heard there was a famous egg tart spot in Jeonju Hanok Village, so we rushed over. Most restaurants open after 11 AM, but this place opens at 10 AM, making it perfect for a snack before lunch. Just a note, it’s a takeout-only shop.

Mom & Tart Jeonju Hanok Village Branch
Address - 1st Floor, 100 Jeondong Cathedral Street, Wansan-gu, Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do
Operating Hours - 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Special Note - Closing when ingredients run out, consumer coupons available.
The large banner at the entrance caught my eye, stating a wait time of 120 hours. This place has been one of the representative eateries in Jeonju Hanok Village since 2008. They offer a variety of flavors, and we decided to try a bit of everything. It looked delicious and tasted just as good as the rumors claimed!
A cute character indicated when the tarts would be ready. We arrived just in time for the freshly baked tarts at 10 AM.
With so many choices, the kids were deep in thought! It was amusing to watch them choose, so I snapped a picture from afar. The shop has been run by the same family for two generations, and it was evident in their reputation. They have been selling only egg tarts since 2008, and their patented crispy and chewy pastry is made with traditional Korean fermented soybeans.
Next to the shop, there was the Gyeonggijeon Traveler's Lounge, which looked neat after its recent renovation. It was easy to find since it was directly across from Gyeonggijeon.
We each picked our favorite tarts, beautifully packaged, and headed out. Since it’s takeout only, we bought drinks and went to the Jeongja Rest Area to enjoy our treats.
While it was raining in Seoul, the weather in Jeonju was fantastic. I was amazed at the weather difference in the same country. We walked towards the rest area, intoxicated by the aroma of the tarts in the autumn sunshine.
Just a short walk up the main road lined with shops, we found the exhibition hall and the rest area nearby. We decided to eat the tarts first before exploring.
The Jeongja Rest Area has seating not only in the front but also in the back. We chose a spot in the back, where the breeze was refreshing.
The yellow box was eye-catching, and the delightful aroma drew attention from those around us.
We started with the original flavor and added cinnamon, shrimp gambas, and salami bacon. The visual alone was mouthwatering, and the kids were thrilled. After a three-hour drive starting at dawn, we were definitely hungry!
Freshly baked and warm, we each took one, and soon the aroma spread throughout the rest area, catching the curiosity of an elderly lady sitting nearby, to whom we offered a tart. Delicious food is meant to be shared.
We happily shared one of each flavor and quickly devoured them. The soft and savory taste exceeded our expectations!
In the end, we enjoyed all eight tarts at the rest area and bought one more to take home for my husband.
You can store them in the freezer and heat them up in the microwave when ready to eat. They taste even better with coffee, proving that coffee is the perfect companion for tarts.
If you visit Jeonju, I highly recommend stopping by Mom & Tart in Jeonju Hanok Village!
It truly left a lasting impression on me for its deliciousness.
