When visiting Gangneung, I always wanted to enjoy the famous Gangneung snow crab at least once. This time, I stopped by Jumun Halge, a well-known restaurant frequently mentioned during my search. Conveniently located right in front of Jumunjin Port, I decided to visit during lunchtime as I heard great things about their crab set menu.

Upon arrival, I was impressed by the spacious restaurant and ample parking, making it a great spot for families or couples. The first impression was very satisfying.

Restaurant Information

Name: Jumun Halge

Address: 1730 Haian-ro, Jumunjin-eup, Gangneung, Gangwon-do

Operating Hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM (Last order at 8:50 PM) / Open year-round

As I drove toward Jumunjin Port, the restaurant's sign immediately caught my eye. The glass door allowed a clear view of the interior, making it easy to enter. The menu display at the entrance gave off a welcoming vibe, perfect for travelers.

As I got closer, I noticed a large red sign with a crab illustration, enticing crab lovers to stop by. There were also notices about operating hours and events, which drew my attention before entering.

A long aquarium with live crabs was placed next to the door, naturally stopping my footsteps. The crabs were lively, and the clear water indicated that they prepare fresh crabs, giving a sense of good management.

In front of the restaurant, the ocean view of Jumunjin Port was breathtaking, allowing me to catch my breath and enjoy the scenery. Seeing the boats docked and the vast sea made me feel like I was truly in Gangneung for the crab experience.

Upon entering, the spacious hall was the first thing that caught my eye. The tables were well-spaced, making it easy for groups to converse. The window seats offered a view of Jumunjin Port, enhancing the dining atmosphere. I heard the restaurant is about 300 pyeong in size, and the spacious layout contributed to a pleasant experience.

There was a self-service bar in one corner where I could easily grab wet wipes or plastic gloves. The neatly arranged aprons made it convenient to prepare for the crab feast.

As soon as I sat down, the set menu I ordered was served all at once. The table was filled with various dishes, including cold crab soup, kimchi pancakes, cream pasta, seaweed soup, Cajun salad, corn cheese, seasonal seafood, and sashimi. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety, as I initially thought the set would only feature crab.

The cold crab soup was topped with vegetables and seaweed flakes, while the sashimi and vegetables were well-marinated, making for a delightful combination. The seasonal seafood was beautifully arranged, each piece easily accessible for tasting.

As the main dishes were served, the atmosphere at the table transformed. The large plate filled with snow crab, service red crab, crab leg sashimi, seasonal seafood, and sashimi made the entire dining experience feel abundant. I understood why Jumun Halge is renowned as a top crab restaurant in Gangneung.

As I finished my meal, the pineapple sorbet was served, refreshing my palate. Overall, my visit to Jumun Halge was satisfying, with a diverse set menu and a pleasant atmosphere, making it a memorable stop during my trip to Gangneung.
