A Delightful Dining Experience at Jeju's Jungmun Saekdal Tong Galchi

Discovering Jeju's Jungmun Saekdal Tong Galchi
While Jeju is known for its diverse culinary delights, I believe nothing beats the taste of galchi (beltfish). Whenever I travel there, I make sure to enjoy both galchi jjim (braised galchi) and grilled galchi. This time, I had a wonderful meal at Jungmun Saekdal Tong Galchi, and I must say, it offers exceptional value for money!
The dishes were generously served, with vibrant visuals and a clean, straightforward taste that was simply perfect.
1. Excellent Accessibility
Jungmun Saekdal Tong Galchi is conveniently located near the entrance of the Jungmun Tourist Complex, making it easy to access. There are many famous hotels nearby, such as Shilla, Lotte, and Grand Chosun, so if you're staying at one of these hotels, it’s a great choice for dinner after checking in or for brunch before checking out.
Parking is also hassle-free, with a spacious private parking lot that even beginner drivers can navigate easily.
The exterior of the restaurant is neat and stylish. Even before entering, I could tell the restaurant was well-maintained. Upon entering, the staff greeted me with warmth, making me feel glad about my choice.

The overall ambiance is relaxed, allowing for a comfortable dining experience. The cleanliness of the restaurant is top-notch, which was very satisfying.
The restaurant also provides various conveniences, including high chairs for children and disposable aprons, along with a variety of table configurations for groups.
3. Braised and Grilled Galchi Together!
The delicious aroma wafting through the restaurant made my stomach growl as I quickly settled into my seat. I ordered the signature menu item, the Saekdal Special, using the tablet on the table.
While you can order individual dishes, I opted for a set that includes both the braised and grilled galchi, wanting to taste a variety of flavors.
This set is not just limited to two dishes; it also includes grilled mackerel, seafood sauce, seaweed rice, stir-fried pork, perilla seed seaweed soup, and eight seasonal side dishes, all for just 70,000 KRW for two people. That's only 35,000 KRW per person for a feast!
4. Satisfied with the Side Dishes
Shortly after placing my order, the basic side dishes were served. Each dish was crafted with care, showcasing seasonal ingredients. The textures and flavors were delightful!
5. Main Dishes: Braised and Grilled Galchi
As I savored each dish, the star of the meal, the braised and grilled galchi, arrived with an impressive presentation. The braised galchi was rich in color and flavor, while the grilled galchi was surprisingly large.
The staff expertly prepares the galchi in front of you, ensuring that the bones and scales are removed, leaving behind thick, tender flesh that is incredibly appetizing.
The grilled galchi was perfectly seasoned, delicious on its own, and paired wonderfully with the seaweed rice.
The braised galchi simmered in a deep, rich sauce made with fresh ingredients, delivering a natural umami flavor that was outstanding.
Overall, dining at Jungmun Saekdal Tong Galchi is a fantastic experience. With reasonable prices and generous portions, I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Jeju!
