This is Samnye Station, Wanju's only train station with a rich history.
I quietly visited Samnye Station.
Unlike the bustling train stations in big cities, I was captivated by the unique charm of Samnye Station.
Serving as a transportation hub in Wanju, it maintains its special warmth and leisure.

Do you know how deep the history of Samnye Station is?
It first opened as a regular station in 1914 during the Japanese colonial period and has preserved its place for over a century.
The clean and modern station we see today was renovated in 2011 with the double-tracking of the Jeolla Line.
Even though time has passed, the cozy atmosphere around the station remains unchanged.
During my visit, I was particularly impressed by the ticket vending machines.
In an age where contactless machines are everywhere, the new ticket machine at Samnye Station is exceptionally user-friendly.
You can easily purchase tickets without needing staff assistance.
It supports four languages: Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese.
Additionally, for the hearing impaired, the screen provides sign language guidance through the ticket purchasing process.
For seniors or those with low vision, there’s a screen zoom feature and a high-contrast mode for better visibility.
This machine goes beyond being just smart; it embodies a warm consideration to ensure no one feels excluded.
As you step into the station square, you immediately feel a breath of fresh air.
Beyond the wide and neatly arranged square, the blue sky and the scenery of the quaint village come into view.
However, the true essence of Samnye Station lies at the platform.
Climbing the stairs to the platform, you are greeted by the expansive view of the Mangyeong River and the endless green fields.
With no tall buildings or obstructions, your heart feels refreshed.
Standing on the quiet platform, gazing at the railway, you feel as if you are already on a healing journey without needing to travel far.
Whether it’s a scorching summer day or a chilly winter, worry not.
The platform has a clean waiting area with large glass walls.
You can comfortably sit inside, enjoying the view of passing trains and the railway landscape like a framed picture.

The moment you step outside, you will find cultural and artistic attractions within a one-minute walk, hidden like treasures.
