June: Month of National Defense and Honor

June is designated as the 'Month of National Defense and Honor' in South Korea.
Centered around Memorial Day on June 6, it is a month to honor those who sacrificed for the country during the Korean War and the subsequent process of overcoming national crises.
This month serves as a time to pray for the 'spirits of the fallen' and to commemorate the 'patriotic spirit' of those who died for their country.
Various memorial services and events are held across the nation.
In Goyang City, there are places where you can learn about this history and pay your respects through silent prayer, flower offerings, and visits.
