Goyang City Outdoor Library: Books, Outside!

As the weather warms up, there are times when the outdoors feels even warmer than being inside.
Set against the backdrop of pleasant weather, Goyang City hosted the outdoor library event 'Books, Outside' in Gangchon Park, allowing citizens to enjoy reading and culture in nature.
The event took place on the 9th at the book resting area in Gangchon Park, Ilsandong-gu.
'Books, Outside' is an outdoor library event held in open urban spaces where anyone can freely enjoy reading and relaxation.
Thanks to the positive response from citizens last year, we were able to meet with them again this year.
The event featured a 'healing zone' with bean bag sofas, shade tents, and tables, creating a comfortable space for citizens to sit back and read.
Due to its accessibility, many park-goers who were unaware of the event stopped by to read a book.
Everywhere there were foldable chairs and sofas, complemented by book baskets, creating an inviting environment for casual reading.
Children accompanied by their parents were seen taking up spots and engrossed in their books.
The book baskets included not only children's fairy tales but also essays, poetry, and novels for adults, offering a variety of genres.
Additionally, there were activities such as 'Book Recommendations' and 'Reading Experience Programs' to ensure that both children and adults could enjoy a unique reading experience.
On one side, there was a 'Paper House Decoration' area where children could freely draw or color.
In the outdoor booth for the 'Reading Experience Program,' children participated in activities like board games related to reading, letter writing, reading puzzles, and more, allowing them to experience the joy of reading.
Under the open sky of the park, basking in the warm spring sunlight while reading, I found myself more focused and connected to the books than when reading indoors.
Events like 'Books, Outside' that bring books and culture closer to our everyday lives should continue to be held, allowing many citizens to enjoy the pleasure of reading.
Thank you.
