Hello!
These days, it seems easy to encounter the use of 'drones' in various fields of daily life.
From capturing photos and videos to logistics, safety management, agriculture, and disaster response, the applications of drones are expanding across diverse sectors.
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the 'Goyang Drone Anchor Center', the first specialized drone facility in Korea that supports research, development, education, and experimentation in the drone industry.
There, I experienced a range of activities from simple training to simulations and actual drone piloting.
The program is structured so that even complete beginners can learn step by step, making the experience all the more engaging.
During the training, I learned about the importance of obtaining flight permissions. Through the 'One-stop Drone Service', I could easily apply for necessary approvals.
By checking no-fly zones and permitted flight times, I understood the necessity of operating within approved limits to minimize the risk of fines.
After completing the basic training, I explored various facilities within the center, including live commerce, R&D centers, drone laboratories, and 3D printing rooms.
Following the tour, I began serious drone piloting practice. Initially, I learned the control methods using a computer simulation.
While moving the drone on the screen, I practiced changing directions and moving to desired locations, which turned out to be more challenging than I expected.
Especially, when the direction I was facing differed from the drone's orientation, it was easy to get confused during piloting.
However, after a few repetitions, I started to get the hang of it.
Once I became somewhat familiar with the computer simulation, I moved to the indoor experience area to practice with a drone soccer ball.
Flying the actual drone in the spacious indoor environment was a completely different experience compared to practicing on the computer screen.
Seeing the drone move slowly forward, change direction, and return to its original position was both fascinating and fun, though controlling it was not as easy as I had imagined.
I also learned how to connect the drone to a smartphone for video recording. The drones used here were more professional, making each movement more delicate.
The 'Goyang Drone Anchor Center' is a great place for those interested in drones but unsure of where to start.
Although it was a short time, it was a fun experience to learn about drones that I had not known much about, and I even got to pilot one.
I look forward to seeing how drones will become more integrated into our daily lives in the future.
Thank you.
