Three Must-Visit Beaches in Taean Before the Heatwave and Rainy Season

Before the heatwave and rainy season begin, here are three beaches in Chungnam Taean that are perfect for an early summer sea trip.
The first is the wave cave at Padori Beach,
the second is the Chicken Island and Mud Chicken Island at Cheonlipo Beach,
and lastly, the beautiful sunset at Manlipo Beach.
When we think of a 'beach', we often picture the blue sea and white sandy shores.
However, these three locations offer a unique landscape, showcasing the beauty of Taean's ocean.
1. Padori Beach
We arrived early in the morning at Padori Beach, located at the southern tip of Sowon-myeon in Taean County.
True to its name, which means 'beautiful waves', the waves gracefully roll against the red rock cliffs, and the emerald sea flows gently, creating a stunning view.
Beyond the cliffs, there are two natural caves connected to each other.
This special wave cave has already gained popularity on social media.
To fully appreciate this wave cave, it is essential to check the 'tide schedule'.
You can find various websites by searching for 'Taean tide schedule' online.
During low tide, when the seawater recedes from the beach, you can approach the cave.
It is generally recommended to visit within two hours before or after low tide.
On the other hand, during high tide, access to the cave is prohibited as the way is blocked.
Accidents of isolation often occur during high tide, so please ensure your safety.
Although we couldn't visit at low tide due to our schedule, I felt no disappointment.
This is because the red rocks of Padori Beach provided an exotic landscape that felt like it was not in our country.
Just seeing these magnificent cliffs was a special moment.
Padori Beach features granite formations from the Jurassic period.
After enduring thousands of years of wave erosion, the cliffs and wave caves feel like a masterpiece created by nature.
Taking photos against the backdrop of these ancient red cliffs allows you to capture stunning scenery and memorable shots.

○ Notes: Collection of stones from the beach is prohibited, please check the tide schedule before visiting, and entry to the wave cave is prohibited during high tide.
2. Cheonlipo Beach
About a 20-minute drive north from Padori Beach, you will find Baekripo Beach, Cheonlipo Beach, and Manlipo Beach, spaced about 2 km apart.
These interesting names were given based on the varying sizes of the beaches.
I explored Cheonlipo Beach, which is located right in front of the 'Cheonlipo Arboretum', allowing visitors to experience an exotic atmosphere where the sea and the arboretum blend together.
In front of Cheonlipo Beach, there is a small island that resembles a 'chicken's head', hence the name 'Chicken Island'.
During low tide, a stone bridge appears, allowing you to walk to the island.
If you want to take great photos on this stone bridge, I recommend visiting in the morning when the sun is high, as the afternoon will create backlighting.
Cheonlipo Beach may not be large, but it offers a variety of attractions.

3. Manlipo Beach
The last of the top three recommended beaches in Taean is Manlipo Beach, known for its beautiful sunset views.
With a wide sandy shore stretching about 1 km and moderate waves, it is often referred to as the 'California of Korea', or 'Manliponia'.
On the way to the beach, surfboards are lined up, giving off a vibe of a premier surfing destination on the West Coast.
Along the sandy beach, there are various facilities such as restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, karaoke, and pensions, making it a comfortable place for travelers to stay.
Particularly around 7:40 PM in early June, the true beauty of Manlipo is revealed as the sunset paints the sea and beach in golden hues, creating a picturesque landscape.
A photo zone framed like a round picture allows you to capture the sunset and the sea together.
On the day I visited, the sunset was especially enchanting.
The golden sea sunset, where the sky and sea blended seamlessly, was breathtaking, with surfers gliding by as if floating in the air.
This mesmerizing view reminded me of the enjoyable day spent at Padori Beach and Cheonlipo Beach.
Beyond the three beaches introduced today, there are hidden gem-like beaches in Taean that are not well-known.
How about taking a trip to Taean in June before the rainy season and heatwave arrive?
Enjoy a short summer vacation in a relaxed and peaceful manner before the peak summer vacation season.
