This summer, a vibrant green world unfolds, slowly taking on the weight of the season. Although it's a bit hot, I took a bus to Gongju and enjoyed a walking tour around the city.

From the Gongju Comprehensive Bus Terminal, heading towards the Geumgang River, you'll find an overpass. Crossing the overpass leads you to Shin-gwan Park on Mir Island, where you can rent bicycles and explore the area.

Crossing a small bridge from Shin-gwan Park brings you to Mir Island. Inside, you'll find a beautiful sculpture that signifies Gongju, making it a popular backdrop for photos. Nearby, purple flowers are in bloom.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed the elephant garlic flowers beginning to bloom. In the expansive elephant garlic field, flower stalks are starting to rise, showcasing their growth.

Elephant garlic grows much thicker than regular garlic, with large purple buds that bloom in June, some as big as a child's fist. They typically produce flowers larger than a ping pong ball.

The elephant garlic flowers appear to be a mix of pink and purple, and in about a week, they will fully bloom, creating a beautiful sight. When they bloom in clusters, it will resemble a wave of purple.

During my visit in early June, I spotted Shasta daisies from a distance. Although many are wilting, there are still some beautifully bloomed flowers.

This flower garden features Shasta daisies and rapeseed flowers. Watching the Shasta daisies bloom along the roadside while couples ride by on bicycles is simply beautiful.

Currently, cosmos flowers are also blooming abundantly on Mir Island. The cosmos swaying in the breeze near the riverbank is a lovely sight. Traditionally blooming in the fall, they now begin to flower in summer.

The cosmos here come in various colors, including red, white, and pink, and they will continue to bloom and die back, showcasing their beauty for about a month.

Cosmos flowers blend beautifully with the distant Geumgang River, mountains, and Gongju Castle. Additionally, the bright yellow flowers of the ginseng flower add to the scenery, while wild pink bindweed blooms beautifully.
