At the beginning of April, I went on a 2-day healing trip to Yonghyeon Natural Recreation Forest with my family.

Here’s a review of the 'Cherry Blossom' room, which accommodates up to 10 people, along with some important tips you might need to know!

1. Reservation and Discount Information

(Lucky to win the weekend lottery!)

Making a reservation for the national recreation forest on weekends is not easy, but I was fortunate to win the advance lottery and went there.

Yonghyeon Natural Recreation Forest

○ Location: 89-4 Yonghyeon-ri, Unsan-myeon, Seosan-si, Chungcheongnam-do

○ Facilities: Forest House, Campground, BBQ Area, Forest Playground

○ Activities: Forest experience

○ Meals: BBQ available (except during fire prevention periods) / Gas burner can be used

○ Check-in time: 3 PM, Check-out time: 11 AM

Room name: Room 307, Cherry Blossom (Maximum capacity: 10 people)

Structure: 2 bedrooms + 1 spacious living room

Cost: Regular price 208,000 KRW

→ 10% discount for families with multiple children: 187,200 KRW

Tip: If you have multiple children, make sure to take advantage of the discount when booking!

2. Must-Check Before Check-in

Identification of the person who made the reservation: The person who made the reservation must present their ID. Without it, check-in is not possible, and transferring or renting the reservation to someone else is strictly prohibited.

Check-in is not allowed for companions first: If the reservation holder arrives late, companions cannot check-in first. The reservation holder must arrive for check-in, so please coordinate your schedule accordingly.

Check-in time: From 3 PM, with the final check-in deadline at 10 PM. Please be cautious as late arrivals may be restricted.

3. Room 307 'Cherry Blossom' Interior and Amenities

The space is very spacious, perfect for a large family stay.

Cleanliness: Overall, it was very clean. The bedding was plentiful and in excellent condition, allowing for a comfortable sleep.

Kitchen facilities: A rice cooker and basic cooking utensils are well-equipped. However, there is no microwave, so if you want to heat pre-cooked rice, you need to boil water in a pot.

Electronics and conveniences: There is a TV, but Wi-Fi is not available. It felt like a reminder to put down smartphones and enjoy nature.

Air conditioning is not included by default; if you want it, you need to pay an additional fee to request it.

4. Essential Items to Bring

There is no store inside the recreation forest. If you forget something, you have to drive 10-15 minutes to find a supermarket, which may be closed on certain days, so pack your bags thoroughly!

Personal toiletries: Bring all toiletries such as towels, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, and body wash. Especially, hairdryers are not provided, so don’t forget to bring one!

Insect repellent: Since it’s a forest, there can be bugs, so it’s best to prepare mosquito coils or insect repellent in advance.

Cash: You need to purchase garbage bags upon check-in, which can only be paid in cash. Put general waste in the purchased bags and separate recyclables at designated locations upon check-out.

5. Tips for Outdoor BBQ During Fire Prevention Period!

While BBQ is a must at a recreation forest, it is prohibited during the dry spring fire prevention period. But don’t be disappointed!

While charcoal is not allowed, you can use a gas burner (portable gas stove). We grilled meat on the outdoor table using the burner, and it was a delightful experience to eat while enjoying the cool air and the sound of birds.

Note: Pets are strictly prohibited in the room, and please refrain from cooking smelly foods like fermented soybean paste inside for the next guests.

6. The Real Charm of Yonghyeon Natural Recreation Forest: Valley and Walking Trails

The sound of the flowing valley water right in front of the accommodation is exceptional. Just looking at the clear water makes you feel refreshed.

The walking trails are very well maintained, and just walking in the morning and evening felt like pure healing. In early April, the fresh green leaves and clear air helped relieve stress.

This trip was meant for the kids, but surprisingly, it was us adults who felt more healed and happy.

If you want to feel relaxed in nature, I highly recommend visiting this natural recreation forest.
