On a beautiful autumn day with clear skies and a gentle breeze,
it's the perfect time to find a nice place for a walk.
I recently visited Gyerim Park, a lovely walking spot in the heart of Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do.
Gyerim Park is famous for its walking trails,
featuring a specially designed earthen path for barefoot walking.
This park also offers family-friendly attractions like the Jangsu Mountain Trail and a children's forest experience area,
making it an ideal spot for both family outings and light exercise.
As I slowly ascended the hill from the parking lot,
I made sure to visit the restroom first.
Entering the park, I found lush green grass,
benches, and resting spots scattered throughout,
making it a pleasant place to stroll.
Gyerim Park features a health plaza, a rose tunnel,
a multipurpose sports field, a children's playground,
a grassy play area, and photo zones.
With restrooms, shelters, and drinking fountains available,
it was easy to take breaks during my walk.
The highlight of my visit was the earthen path.
This path is specifically designed for barefoot walking,
with soft, compacted earth providing a cushioned feel underfoot.
Walking barefoot felt completely different from my usual walks in shoes.
As I savored the gentle texture of the earth beneath my feet,
my pace slowed, allowing me to appreciate the surrounding scenery.
The path also featured informational signs about the acupressure benefits of walking on different areas of the foot,
adding an interesting element to my stroll.
I noticed other locals walking barefoot,
indicating how much the community enjoys this unique walking experience.
Next to the earthen path, there is a regular walking path,
so those who prefer to wear shoes can comfortably walk as well.
Walking along the earthen path leads to a forested area,
providing shade from the trees, making it a cool retreat in the summer.
In autumn, the path will likely transform with colorful leaves,
creating a different atmosphere.
Despite being in the city, the earthen path extends into the forest,
allowing visitors to connect with nature.
I felt a sense of coexistence between people and nature.
Along the path, there are benches for resting,
each equipped with a fan, cleverly tied to prevent theft.
This thoughtful idea allows everyone to cool off on hot days.
Even in the pleasant autumn weather,
the sun can be quite warm during the day.
Sitting on a bench, fanning myself,
was a delightful little enjoyment.
After walking the earthen path,
I found exercise equipment placed throughout the park,
perfect for stretching after my barefoot walk.
There were also pavilions and benches,
allowing for breaks whenever needed.
With foot washing and shoe storage facilities,
it was convenient to clean up after walking barefoot.
Gyerim Park is a great place for families,
featuring not only the earthen path but also a children's forest experience and playground.
The playground has a soft, cushioned surface,
making it safe for children to run and play.
With grassy play areas and multipurpose fields,
kids can have fun while adults enjoy walking.
If you're looking to walk a bit further,
the trail continues to the Jangsu Mountain Trail,
which is about 2km round trip and takes around 50 minutes.
Walking the earthen path and then heading to Jangsu Mountain makes for a nice light workout.
The park also features numerous health-related messages,
encouraging walking for at least 30 minutes five days a week.
With information on nutrition and exercise,
it's a great place to reflect while enjoying a stroll.
If you're in Dangjin looking for a place for barefoot walking or a relaxing stroll,
Gyerim Park's earthen path is definitely worth a visit.
