Exploring the Serenity of Chungju Woo Rim Garden

As the midday temperatures rise, we often find ourselves seeking out shaded areas.
Visiting places with plenty of trees can provide a refreshing escape.
During such times, I prefer to explore nature over urban settings, enjoying walks among the trees.
I’d like to introduce a lovely spot where you can take a stroll and enjoy a cup of tea.
This time, I’m talking about the Chungju Woo Rim Garden.
Established in 2005, this garden has been carefully cultivated and is designated as the 6th private garden in North Chungcheong Province.
To reach Woo Rim Garden, follow the quiet country road alongside the Wonkok Stream in Eomjeong-myeon, Chungju.
Even the parking area features plants, with "Woo Rim" spelled out using greenery, named after the couple who created the garden.
There is an entrance fee of 5,000 won per person, which includes beverages and fruits.
The garden is open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and pets are not allowed.
After purchasing tickets, I explored the garden, which has a simple map showing its vast layout.
Within the garden, you can find a Metasequoia walking path, a waterfall, a pine forest maze, a hydrangea trail, a pond, art paths, a performance area, and hiking trails.
I walked along a path lined with green plants, where peonies bloom beautifully in mid to late May, offering a stunning floral display.
You can also see rare lightning-struck pine trees on display.
As I walked the trails, I encountered flowers blooming here and there, making it enjoyable to discover various blossoms throughout the seasons.
Woo Rim Garden is quite expansive, and as I wandered, I came across the hydrangea trail.
Here, artistic sculptures are nestled among the hydrangeas, creating a delightful atmosphere.
The art garden features a variety of artworks, including stone towers and sculptures that create another artistic space.
There are areas dedicated to sculptures of herbivores and carnivores, as well as spaces showcasing zodiac sculptures.
The garden is well-marked with signs, making it easy to navigate.
You can also stroll along a forest path lined with Metasequoia trees, known for their neat appearance.
Along the way, I found a small pond with a charming waterfall featuring playful dolphin and duck sculptures.
There are benches by the pond where you can relax under the trees, listening to the soothing sound of water.
The stone towers stacked along the paths reflect the care taken in their construction.
In the flower beds, the delicate rock fern flowers bloom, presenting a simple yet beautiful sight.
The garden offers resting spots, perfect for enjoying tea after a stroll.
A variety of drinks are available, including Americano, Sikhye, Sujeonggwa, quince tea, and ginger tea, accompanied by fresh fruits.
Sipping on a drink after a walk is refreshing, making you feel as if you've been invited to a beautiful home.
After leisurely exploring the garden and sensing the seasonal changes, I was amazed by its size, especially knowing it’s privately maintained.
With plenty of shaded paths, you can enjoy a pleasant walk even in summer.
Chungju Woo Rim Garden offers a serene escape and a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature at your own pace.
