The fictional harbor village of 'Hoppo' in the movie.
Interestingly, this place is not a CGI-created movie set,
but rather a real small village in Haenam where residents live. Did you know?
This time, reporter Kwak Seo-hee from Travel has visited Haenam
to explore the real-life counterpart of 'Hoppo' in Namchang-ri, Bukpyeong-myeon.
In the movie 'Hope', the 'Hoppo sequence' lasts about an hour.
As intense chases and events unfold,
the location leaves a strong impression on the audience.
Surprisingly, the harbor in the film is not a massive open set but the actual village of Namchang-ri in Bukpyeong-myeon, Haenam.
The production team utilized old shops, houses, alleys, and a terminal,
adding false walls and changing signs to transform Haenam in the 2020s into a village from the 1970s and 80s.
The entire village served as the film's stage for about three months.
Now that filming is over,
Hoppo has returned to being Namchang-ri.
However, traces of the film remain everywhere.
As you walk through the alleys, murals recalling scenes from the movie appear,
and you can also find the footprints of the alien 'Bamigirl'.
For those who have seen the film,
it's fun to say, "Oh? I saw this place in the movie!" as you match scenes with the actual landscape.
