As you travel from the metropolitan area towards Dangjin, your journey begins at Songak IC after passing the Seohae Bridge on the West Coast Expressway.

To the north, you can head towards Hanjin Port, while to the south lies Eumsam Port, connecting to the sea.

If you wish to go inland to downtown Dangjin, you will continue past Songak IC until you reach Dangjin IC.

Both Hanjin Port and Eumsam Port offer stunning views of the Seohae Bridge, which gracefully spans the sea.

After crossing the Seohae Bridge, my destination was Maesan Coastal Park.

I learned that salt marsh plants were planted here last April, prompting my visit.

Maesan Coastal Park is located along a coastline that forms a right angle towards the sea, just past Eumsam Port.

There is a large café nearby, making it a popular spot on weekends.

At the end of the one-lane coastal road, you will see a sign for Maesan Coastal Park, with a walking path that runs parallel to the coastline.

During my visit, it was low tide, revealing an expansive mudflat.

This area, located about 1.7 km from Eumsam Port, connects Maesan Coastal Park, Maetdol Port, and Hamsang Park along a long coastal walking trail.

The total distance to the Hamsang Park tourist area by Sapgyo Lake is 5.8 km.

From Maesan Coastal Park, the Seohae Bridge stretches out to the left.

As you walk along the coastline, the view of the Seohae Bridge continues to unfold, gradually becoming more distant.

During low tide, the mudflat makes the Seohae Bridge feel closer.

Maesan Coastal Park is developing a 20,000 square meter salt marsh plant habitat under the supervision of the Dangjin City Volunteer Center.

This initiative will continue until 2029, with planting having begun last April.

As I walked along the exposed mudflat, I looked for the salt marsh plant habitat.

However, the planting area, only a month old, was not yet visible to the naked eye.

In three years, as the planting area expands and the salt marsh plants establish themselves, I expect to see a transformation.

On the mudflat, only signs of aquaculture and sizable pebbles were visible.

The wide mudflat has formed channels as the water recedes, with numerous small holes likely left by marine life.

The shallow seawater sparkled under the sunlight, meeting the clear blue sky.

With the ebb and flow of the tides, Maesan Coastal Park's scenery changes twice a day.

Just as the distance to Hamsang Park is long, the exposed mudflat has also widened.

This area is a treasure trove of marine life. The salt marsh plant habitat is likely to be established along the expansive mudflat.

Salt marsh plants contribute to the recovery of the mudflat ecosystem and carbon absorption, forming blue carbon.

Blue carbon is said to be significantly more efficient at storing carbon than terrestrial ecosystems.

In three years, the salt marsh plant habitat will present a different Maesan Coastal Park.

The coastal walking path, which follows the lengthy coastline, leads to a tree-lined road with lush greenery.

If you visit with time to spare, trekking from Maetdol Port to Hamsang Park can take 2 to 3 hours.

Maesan Coastal Park offers beautiful sea views, a path that brings happiness while walking, and a chance to witness stunning sunsets if you visit during the evening.
