Hello, I'm Jeon Min-young from the Dangjin Citizens' Promotion Group.

Today, I would like to introduce Bongam Neighborhood Park, a perfect walking course for families with children.

Despite the continuous rainy weather, I hesitated to leave home until the last moment.

However, walking slowly with an umbrella in Bongam Neighborhood Park revealed to me that this place is most beautiful after the rain.

The sound of raindrops falling on the leaves, the fresh scent of damp earth, and the vibrant green scenery made me reconsider what it means to find peace in our busy lives.

Bongam Neighborhood Park is located in front of Eoreum Water Park. While it is known as a great park for walking, there are hidden treasure-like spaces within the park that many people are still unaware of.

These include the Children’s Forest Experience Center and the Barefoot Walking Trail.

As I walked along the forest path, the first thing that caught my eye was the Children’s Forest Experience Center, designed to allow children to play in nature rather than relying on artificial play equipment. The most eye-catching feature was the large net playground.

This net playground allows children to climb and develop their sense of balance while helping each other play. Seeing children who are used to smartphones and indoor playgrounds enjoying themselves in nature brought a smile to my face. It was a space where I could truly feel why people say the forest is the best playground for children.

After passing the Children’s Forest Experience Center, I arrived at my destination, the Barefoot Walking Trail.

Recently, more people are practicing barefoot walking for their health. I was interested but unsure where to walk. Luckily, Bongam Neighborhood Park has a well-maintained barefoot walking trail that anyone can safely enjoy.

I took off my shoes and carefully took my first step. The sensation of the earth on my soles was softer than I expected, and I could feel the natural warmth that was neither cold nor hot. My feet, which are usually confined in shoes, felt free for the first time in a while.

The Barefoot Walking Trail is about a five-minute walk for adults, making it a suitable distance for walking with children or leisurely chatting with parents.

Although short, it felt longer because every step was accompanied by the beautiful scenery nature offered.

Walking along the path, I encountered sections covered with yellow clay balls. Initially, the sensation on my soles was a bit prickly, but after a few steps, it felt more like a refreshing massage. It is known to aid blood circulation, which explains why so many citizens visit.

The damp forest was much greener than usual, and the trees looked more vibrant as they absorbed the rainwater. Each time the wind blew, the raindrops falling from the leaves sounded like a gentle melody, creating a natural orchestra with the birdsong.

While walking, I suddenly thought that we often believe we need to travel far to heal, but happiness can actually be found in places close to us.

Dangjin has many wonderful parks created for its citizens. However, unless you take the time to walk through them slowly, it can be hard to discover these hidden spaces. Bongam Neighborhood Park, while seemingly ordinary at first glance, becomes increasingly impressive the deeper you go, as it is carefully designed for both nature and people to relax together.

Although Dangjin has a strong industrial city image, there are many spaces where one can breathe with nature. Walking through a space created for the health and relaxation of citizens made me feel grateful to live in Dangjin.

While I have introduced many places through my activities with the Citizens' Promotion Group, it is rare for a rainy day’s scenery to leave such a lasting impression as today.

I want to share that there are parks that are even more beautiful on rainy days than on clear ones.

This weekend, I recommend visiting Bongam Neighborhood Park with family, a partner, or even just for some alone time. Children can play freely at the Children’s Forest Experience Center, while adults can feel the energy of nature on the Barefoot Walking Trail, allowing both body and mind to relax.

You don’t have to travel far to find healing. The lush forest, the warm touch of yellow clay on your toes, and the five minutes of leisurely walking can wash away the fatigue of the day and lighten your heart.
