Are you ever in a dilemma about choosing souvenirs or gifts for friends when you travel? You don’t have to worry about that in Buyeo, Chungcheongnam-do.

This cultural center showcases and sells Buyeo's main specialties, including watermelon, melon, tomatoes, strawberries, chestnuts, cucumbers, shiitake mushrooms, button mushrooms, jujubes, and grapes, collectively known as the 'Ten Treasures of Buyeo.'

Additionally, from May 8 to May 30, the second floor will host the first solo exhibition of artist Ahn Jung-hyun, titled 'Things Left Behind in Touch and Entanglement.'

Located right next to the Buyeo Intercity Bus Terminal, the Baekgang Cultural Center is easy to find. It opened on December 19, 2024, and is a multi-cultural space.

This two-story facility includes a lovely café, a local gift shop, a cozy resting area for travelers, lockers, a nursing room, and a gallery, providing all the necessary conveniences for visitors. It’s a great place to stop by before starting your Buyeo journey or before heading home.

The first space I visited in the Baekgang Cultural Center was the traveler’s resting area, 'Buyeoro.' If you are new to Buyeo, you can gather a lot of information here.

Every Saturday, they operate a bike rental service for the program 'A Round Trip in Buyeo by Bicycle,' and they offer plenty of information about walking routes and various festivals held throughout the year, making it perfect for planning your itinerary.

Unlike many other traveler’s resting areas that are often empty or quiet, I was surprised to see a lot of visitors at the Baekgang Cultural Center. Its proximity to the bus terminal likely contributes to its popularity.

You can enjoy delicious drinks from the café while resting comfortably, and the facility offers practical services like smartphone charging and secure storage for heavy luggage.

Now, let’s head up to the 'Baekgang Gallery' on the second floor. Ahn Jung-hyun's first solo exhibition, 'Things Left Behind in Touch and Entanglement,' features a unique blend of two seemingly incompatible materials, transforming familiar everyday items into beautiful works of art.

The exhibition showcases handbags, shopper bags, passport wallets, pouches, and clutch bags made from traditional Hanji paper and leather, creating an extraordinary charm that can be appreciated up close.

Personally, I was most impressed by the 'Ink Wash Painting Passport Wallet' and 'Minhwa Clutch Bag.' If prices had been listed, I would have considered purchasing them due to their outstanding design and marketability.

When you visit the café and gift shop, you can enjoy delicious tea and desserts, as well as browse and purchase charming accessories and local specialties all in one place.

If you are contemplating souvenirs or local gifts during your Buyeo trip, make sure to stop by the Baekgang Cultural Center, where you can enjoy a beautiful gallery and plenty of attractions.
